Maybe once a month some cheap stuff comes up and that's optimistic, but £60 for a turbo that's capable of 350bhp without modification on my car, nope!
Whilst I know you can mod a top entry turbo to front entry you can't say it's £60 done though - you have to fact in how much it costs to mod the turbo to be front entry.
It's not so cheap when you start adding all the "extras" like this in.
So in short, sorry, I cannot agree with that statement (even though I did sell you a very cheap gearknob )
Btw there's a td 05 on fleabay as we speak with up pipe £100 or offers , you'd get it for less obviously ,,, so that's 1 and ive not looked properly !

I also see the comments on it's all about the way the car drives.

Now I agree with that to an extent, but one guy with a 200bhp car might think it seems fast, and go telling everyone he's running 300bhp. A few people on here will know someone who I'm referring to as the example here!
Now in that case, I'm afraid that a dyno will spell out the obvious difference as opposed to what someone thinks feels quick.

In this case, it's nothing to do with ***** waving and all about proving how the car is fuelling, what sort of torque it's making, when it makes full boost etc etc.
I don't think it's unfair to say you can tell some of that by driving but it's far easier to see it on a graph.
When you buy a new car the First thing you do is look at it
The second drive it
Now if you know it's been mapped you may ask who by , now if it's by joe bloggs mapping co, in which case you may walk away
But never have I or anyone I know and very very few if at all anyone on here has driven a car they intend to buy that drives spot on then asked to see a copy of the map and a dyno graph is pointless Other than ooo look at my bhp ( which by the way still depends on dyno and operator )
The thought processes and statements on here are ridiculous when you stop and think
this is not my first performance car , far from it , so at my age I hope to god I know the difference between 2 and 300
If any one asks me I just say around 300 for a guess
I have tried virtual dyno ( which is said to be fairly accurate )
But like I've said there are a lot of variables
Now I really want to keep on topic and am a little pissed off that my car and mapping has been bought into this thread but I'm now gonna use it to demonstrate home mapping is possible and a very viable option to the professional map
Like Paul at zen said its down to me to prove it
So that's what I intend to do
It's no show car at all , just a budget built bug (as ditchy named it , the three legged horse )
The more people see it drive it or what ever the better and I hope it's gonna be a good representation of DIY mapping and what you can do your self and make people realise that like I said mappers charge too much
And please everyone , I'm not doing this for commercial gain ,I'm not mapping folks cars , there is mine and my mates , that's it ,
Its not a demo car to try and prove my skills

It's a car that's been mapped by a nutter in a shed for £20
And if needs must I will get it on a dyno for added proof

I'm now hell bent on shattering this over priced mapping myth
And stop the baffled by bullsit mapping mentality

Well I was the one who suggested it first but then the goal posts got moved ( suprise suprise ,
It was said even if it was given a rr run it would still not prove the map was any good , which is correct it wouldn't , you could still have poor fuel , timing ect
But together with driving , long term running report would give a better over all
Indication of the state of play
Like I said before the posts got moved pretty quick
From it won't tell you anything , to well you might be able to get more power , to you might be able to move the power to a better range and get better mpg
Lol
Like I said I'm gonna get the car about , see what folks opinions are , keep driving it , tweaking it and probably will get it on rr
And report back With a long term all round picture
I feel this is not in keeping with the thread so a little pissed of
But it's got to be done I supposed to prove the validity of cheaper mapping options
On the down side , if it's a big failure it could give professional mappers the chance to up there price even more ( not that I'm that important but it gives them another tiny piece of we told you so ammunition )
Don't get me wrong this is not a one man crusade , I'm a very insignificant fish in a very big pond , but the more on side and that are made more aware of there options the better
The mockery and jibes I've had are driving me harder To prove prices cannot be justified in some cases , please note ( some cases )

I've got no interest in mpg mate tbh , my mates bug ,
And that's it and I've been asked to do others but firmly said no
Its my hobby and have no interest at all making money from it
If someone wants to know the basics of starting I'll try my best to help
But never charge a penny for anything I do for fellow scooby owners
I've got a clutch to do soon ,foc
I'm not in it for money full stop

if nothing else you have started the first ever scoobynet thread that has so many pages and no slanging match has started yet.

i think you have got a lot of people thinking, its not something i would try but thats is becasue i dont have the ***** to try it on my own car for fear of damage.

Lol I dont think im flavour of the month
I've really got nothing against someone who doesn't want to map there own car at all , I totally understand mate
I didn't want this to turn into a DIY mapping thread
I wanted to point out its not all its being made out to be , so why the big prices
And while I remember I can't recall anyone saying my engines gone bang because of a cheap map (and i dont mean your mates mate )
and on that subject the same for an expensive map ,,, anyone ?

Post it in the mods page bugs, requests and features, as stew said if enough people request it, don't see why not.
Post it and the more people vote them I'm sure it will happen but who knows, let's try it

Do you still have the maf sensor in the stock intake pipe? Can you log Mafv on the Carberry Rom? If so it would be nice to see a log?

I'll defo vote yes to a mapping section!

No I seriously i have been out

First answer )Now I don't no if this a genuine question
But yes I have got a maf but only because it contains the inlet air temp and you don't need the maf part because your running off map And I apologise for the second answer

Second answer )Now if you think I'm stupid and your just trying to make me look a dick I suggest you get a life mate

Please select the answer which suits your question

I don't really see what there is to prove. A DIY map can be of good quality. If you show that your DIY map is of good quality it does not establish that professional mappers are universally ripping people off.

I was genuine mate , don't get offended like I said if you were genuine my answer was there
I thought you were into mapping and thought you would know about that rom And the maf
As you said earlier you were into mapping
And was giving me stick about w/b
Well here is a good reason for a mapping section
Where a question can be asked thats not among a load of other ****e and gets mixed up

Like I said mate if you were genuine please accept my apologies
