The neighbour (the house the van is outside of) was the person to complain. Well, he says it was his daughter, as I have found out since Micky posted this thread. To make things clearer for you, as you won't have known, Micky is my partner.

They don't have a car. The neighbours down from us do, restricting us from parking further down. Although they don't work either.

I wish we could just put the van there. The space is wasted as it is.

 

Without boring the **** off you, it's not that simple. One minute he moans that he just doesn't want anything there full stop as it stops an ambulance coming if needed or any visitors (not many btw), then he moans it is the van, then he is back to not wanting anything there.

These people are not normal!

You park the Subaru where the van is (i.e. outside their house but a smaller visual obstruction) and Micky's big *** van outside your gaff.

Then if the neighbours wants to complain, who do they do it too? Can't complain if the van isn't there, free right to park cars anywhere where there is no restriction.

I'd do the above and then if they complain about the Subaru, pass them a Yellow Pages and tell them to find someone who gives a toss

Emmaroids. I had 2 cars, the carisma is now gone and the work car is on the drive every night. We are currently requesting the council to move the light from outside my house so we can make our drive twice as wide .. Stops people parking outside the house some what, and visitors can parkon the drive - around here the streets are very congested with parked cars.

 

Well I knew Mickys' parking was 5hite but I didn't realise Micky and Lisa were an item. Dumb as f*ck me

 

I have a drive to my house and at the entrance to the drive a guy parks his van, on the opposite side of the lane, this causes two problems for us

1. reversing out of the drive can take more turns than is necessary
2. the aesthetic is not very pleasant, i.e. a view of a van from our front garden – we will solve this buy building a gate

However, a couple of things

The van was there when we bought the house, and he has every right to park it where he parks it

It looks like it is work van and quite naturally he wants to park it outside his house, I can sympathise with that, also he seems like a nice hardworking bloke

So I don’t let it bother me, and when I have needed him to move it, he has been more than happy too

Have to say if i had a van parked outside my house like that every night i wouldn;t be very happy.

As sugested above i'd switch the van in front of yours and scoob behind. It removed the work's van element so they can only complain to you direct, not your work. Also reduces the visual impact of the view from the property, shift them both up as much as possible and then if worst comes to the worst you can demonstrait you have tried to accomodate them.

The risk is they go to the council and the council put a disabled space there so you will be shafted.

So I take it these neighbours are old and live of the government, no jobs and just pick things to pick on as they have plenty of free time on their hands, if so then moving the van will not solve anything and they will have something else to complain about down the line.
Or another option Lisa, seen as you are very good with your words and manor of speaking, surely you can come to a compromise with them if anything

 

We had a similar problem with some of our neighbours a few years ago. They used to complain about us parking in front of their property because of access but none of them even had a car. The truth was they were just nosey barstewards and when someone parked outside their house it restricted their ability to snoop on the rest of the street.

 

Good job they don't live in London, where my mate lives you are lucky to be able to park in the same feckin street, let alone outside your house, many a time had to park 3 streets away & schlep it round the corner!

There is no right to be able to park 'your' car outside 'your' house..... it simply doesnt exist. yes they may not be happy, but there is sweet FA they can do about it.

Life sucks at times, deal with it or move - simples.

 

Park the van outside your own house. It would **** me off too. Why park it outside there house. Move ya scooby outside there house and you look at the horrible green a yellow ?

 

Have you not considered knocking your wall down and having off road parking? you could then park the car off road and have the van on the road outside the house blocking the car in for security

I reckon the problem is more a big van being parked outside the house,just swap the vehicles around and see if it helps.

 

Maybe they have a problem with it being citylink,maybe you should change to Royal Mail

Some interesting, and fair points I suppose. Quite a bit of taking the **** out of my parking though. I'm sure pedestrians round here prefer my parking to his daughters that visits sporadically;

If I could park on the grass/front green area, do you think the van would be parked on the road? I'd dump it on the grass, like I used to, until we got a letter off the council.

If it was that simple, I'd just knock the wall down and be done with it. Since the garden is quite a bit lower than the pavement, then it's rather problematic, and probably very costly.

See my reply to Maz. Also, cuppa? Council workers have refused and some still do refuse to enter their house. You think I'm going in there? I'm daft, not stupid.

Why the hell should I? Taking the van home is the only perk we get at work. In fact new starters have different contract's stating that they can't, I believe.

Besides, if I was to do that, want to take a guess at the next complaint? Don't think they, or any of our other neighbours would take to kindly to me starting the car just after 6am everyday.

 

That was the other night, mate. Had to park the car further down the street when we go back from doing the shopping.

Wait until we noticed they've gone and then I moved the car back to where it's covered by CCTV.

 

So why don't you park the van outside your house?

 

If that's the case then mate take all your photos and evidence to your boss at work and get them to forward the info to the mds, there's not much more you can do fella, think your neighbours are just being sad tw@ts

 

Waste of time recording a section of tarmac whilst I'm at work, don't you think?

So far as the manager that informed me about the complaint is concerned, so long as I'm not blocking direct access from their gate to the road, which I'm not, then I'm doing nothing wrong.

She's seen the photo in the OP, and used Google Street View to make her decision, which I assume will be relay back to who ever is dealing with the complaint at head office.

 

Don't worry about it then fella, it's just sad when people do this to each other. (get a life)

Jesus. Just park the van outside your own house and see how they feel. It's not rocket surgery. I think your neighbours must be well fed up. If it was me you'd be coming out to a flat tyre every morning. You'd move it then.
