anyway its a lancer ralliart 4wd,turbocharged and dsg gearbox.
i looked at an impreza hatch but the interior and extras are far better on the ralliart.
it has one of the best oem stereos i have ever seen, sat nav, phone and 40 gb hard disc so no need for ipods or cds.

also has excellent leather seats and far better interior.

it is only 250bhp so its not as powerfull but i still have my sti impreza and will never sell it.

0-60 in 5.4 secs and 150ish mph top speed so more than enough for a family car to cart kids and shopping around which is what it was purchased for.
Did you not say on the MLR that you are looking for an Evo IX to replace your STi?

i agree the lancer ralliart is more of a wrx equivelant.
it is only 250 ish bhp but i was looking for a reasonable to run semi fast car.
looked at focus st etc but just liked the look and feel of the lancer.

i already have an impreza sti and will keep it, the lancer was purchased as my everday use car.

the cosworth is a far faster and more capable car but my choice would be the s205 i think.

It would be a tough choice between the Lancer Hatch and WRX Hatch but a no brainer with an STi.

Guys, theres no such Subaru called an S205, it's actually called an R205. Thats why i highlighted the R.

There is also a new one called an S206 but its a saloon.

The R205 new in Japan would probably cost about £30k, but obviously with taxes and rarity they cost more over here.

I doubt you would need a warranty on them either as they have the ubber strong 2.0l.

yes that was my choice.
what swung it for me was the dsg box in lancer and also the extras like sat nav and leather in the one i found.

i wasnt looking for an sti as the running costs are too much for an everyday car.

horses for courses I say, that car wouldnt be of any interest to me whatsoever, all my Scoobs have been uk spec and new.My last new one was a wr1,after that they lost the plot in my eyes, the Cosworth reignited my interest. A good warranty means everything to me...I also have a supercharged paramount tuned Jaguar...warrantyless....my maintainance bill for 3 years driving this comes to over 20grand....i didnt want that happening again.

yes if warranty was a priority then i guess you bought the correct car, i must admit warranty on a new car of that value would be of interest to me to.

out of interest what are the service intervals on the cosworth??

True the WRX Hatch really does look like a poverty spec STi.

Like i said, i doubt you'd need a warranty on such a well engineered car like an R205.

Cosworth service intervals,1000 miles then every 6000 thereafter.

Adam, any car can go wrong, not necessarily the engine only, the thought of buying a brand new car, with no warranty sounds too risky to me. Besides if you own a r205 I bet you constantly have to tell people what it is......the Cosworth badge needs no introductions

6000 miles is ok,but I think the r205 badge would command more respect in impreza circles, like the spec c does.

No offence but the last real cosworth was the escort, just my personal opinion but the cosworth impreza is nothing more than a marketing excercise.

Never driven one as i have never considered buying one, I do like them but if I was looking to replace my current impreza I think a jdm hawk spec c would be the way I would go,but I do like the new saloon.

I have driven a hatch sti and it wasn't for me but interior quality has moved on greatly especially the seats

So what is it about the Cosworth that you dislike/disapprove of then? Whats not to like? Its powerful, good looking and rare, tuned by the best and warranted for 5 years. and It does 0-60 in 3.65 seconds, thats enough to keep me happy

I don't disapprove at all, all the above is correct apart from the good looking part which is personal taste of course but I'm not a hatch fan.
If you like it enjoy it, it's a very capable car .

Not being funny but the warranty period seems to be getting longer as the thread goes on.

I am sure we started at 12 months then 2 years then 3 and now 5.... keep going as by page 20 it'll be a lifetime warranty

I kid of agree with TT on the Cosworth thing.
It's like M being BMW, AMG being Merc, Prodrive being Subaru - Cosworth has to be Ford.

lol yeah soz that was misleading, standard warranty is 3 years, but its extendable to 5 as long as its renewed before the 3 years expired,my warranty is 36,000 for the 1st 3 years, (you can get the 60 if you ask nicely) but im not expecting to do more than 3/5 per year.My intention at present is to keep this car long term. This one makes up for my bad decision to sell my P1 many moons ago

Over optimistic claims in my book. I can't see 395 bhp being enough to lift this heavy beast to 60mph in less than 4 ecs or even much under 4.5 secs.
Have a look at this

And don't blame the driver

i think the problem with the impreza cosworth is its doesnt really command much respect in the subaru community like the escorts or sierra cosworths did in the ford community years ago.

possibly because most tuned imprezas are just as fast if not faster at a fraction of the cost and adding to the problem the hatch isnt a very loved model either.

Fair point but you can be damn sure my VRS is ok but it ain't no love affair. I mostly fancy a pre tax bumming 2.0 STi but will accept a hell ride in a SuCos if it was on offer
