Quite a bit done today. Finally sorted the issue of the Main & Flash beams which were down to a broken wire in the loom. Sorted the bonnet catch out at last. Adjusted the bonnet pull cable, Re-wired the heated rear window, Sorted the interior light, Fixed both the air filter housing brackets on, Twisted the filler neck so the cap fits straight. Re-aligned the bonnet, Fitted the **** that is the glovebox. Fitted my fire extinguisher......
Few pics as of today.
Next jobs are - Fit higher front springs and lift the rear slightly. Stop the stupid cambelt cover from catching on something??????? Full nut & Bolt tighten then we'll see about the MOT.

Not a fan of the blue oval, but that RS is absolutely stunning!! its terrible that you lost your mk2 the way you did, but every cloud has a silver lining and all that.
Health to enjoy her sir!!

The aerial, again, not sure as YUE had one fitted and it leaked as they were not best even in the day.

I have the chrome gutter trims and also a period aerial. Schools out though whether I will fit them as the gutter trims are a pain to fit and unless brand new, never really look right & damage the paintwork

I know we all all different with our views on what should or should not do but I am a big believer in taking a car and within reason enhancing on what is there and as you have said re the arial and chrome strips I personally would leave them off, not everything oem was or is perfect on any brand new or old and it would be a great shame to fit something that could cause damage now or in years to come. I like it the way it looks myself

Re fire extinguisher: can I suggest that you fit either a 4kg or a 6kg extinguisher in the boot? You secure it using OMP plumbed in bottle mounts, which are usually the correct size and have quick releases straps. You can also make it far more effective by extending the hose by about two feet, which allows you to direct the powder under the sills and up whilst keeping the bottle upright. If you want a second extinguisher then Id suggest foam, as this will cool what the powder has extinguished, but always use powder first. AFFF extinguishers in cars (plumbed in and hand held) are fitted for a different purpose, and saving the car is very much a secondary consideration.
