Not done a lot on the Astra the past weekend, did some fibreglass repairs to the front bumper and then got roped into helping to build a spray room/booth at one end of the new unit, should have a booth extractor coming that will be placed at the side, just in time to get the Astra painted

not the best pic taken late at night on the phone but you get the idea...

You need to let us know the price when there is one so we can fight over it

Done some more on the wiring this weekend,
It was easier to start almost from scratch than trying to make the fuse box and wiring fit my car so I stripped all but a few wires from the fuse/relay box and purchased some new terminals,

Also when I got the fusebox the earth on the relays were yellow and green so I made up some new earth looms in brown to match the Astra loom

Then started to add a circuit at a time, some of the connections are in the loom that’s in the car which will be connected once I have done all I can on the bench,

Seems to have took ages to get this far but I have soldered each terminal and shrink wrapped where needed...

Also put in some new rear driveshaft’s as I originally had the wrong ones for the Diff…

Been following this thread for a while now.

Am really looking forward to seeing this car when she's finished.

I love it that you woke up one day and thought "hey I know I'll chuck some Subaru running gear into an Astra"

Attached the fusebox into the car today and made a temporary switch panel so I could wire the switches and check the wiring to the lights

Haven’t got a battery yet so I used the charger on low to the fusebox and to an earth point on the car, and all worked ok,

Still a bit more to do but having something working feels like another milestone…

Got a hazard switch from a mk2 Astra on order as it will fit into the switch panel nicely,

Keep at it fella, if there's one thing I need to learn a bit more about its auto electrics, I had to get a mate to come and sort the wiring when I put a 2.5 v6 into a 1.0 corsa as it had my head boxed!

Looks a proper tidy job fella.

Cheers... It's done my head in a bit mainly how long it has taken,

I'm trying to find the best way of doing the wipers... on the astra the wiper control unit is built into a kind of ECU module that controls a few things, so currently I have the wipers working without it but they don't park I'm thinking I need to use this module thing but also the wiper motor has two bolts missing and signs of being taken apart before so maybe the motor is kaput...

Spent an afternoon trying to make something for the fuse box to mount on out of aluminium sheet and it looked pretty awful, really needed a bending machine and alloy welder and some more talent with Alloy… so I ditched that idea and got some MDF to see what I could do with that,

It looks ok and I could cover or flock it, I have had someone offer to make a carbon piece from my MDF template so that is tempting…

Wiring to the fuse box is pretty much done, just a few items like radiator fans, reverse lights to hook up when the Subaru loom is in place… and anything I have overlooked!!!!

And the wipers at the moment they don’t park I think I may need to use the multifunction module from the Astra but I think I may have binned it…

Also been buying some bits for the exhaust box to go into my tunnel, I will use a Subaru exhaust section to the back of the floor this will be 3 inch and the tube to use on the back box is 89mm (3.5 inch) and I will use 50mm perforated tube so with two of them it will be 3 inch into 4 inch so should flow ok, I will make them re-packable using acoustafill, if it is too loud I will have to add a middle box in…

If not carbon, you could also mould a fibreglass tub. For the ali you really need a sheet metal bender which is why I bought rigt angle sections for my battery box. At least it's progress

Fuse box panel looks great mate, for the center console on our track car we actually used 3mm thick ABS plastic following by some flock. Super easy to cut and easy to bend into shape if you heat it up gently with a heat gun.

That looks good Tim, and a lot easier to work with than ali - I know, I'm looking at working some at the moment and even cutting it is a PITA - I need bigger snips

Decided to do something a bit drastic this weekend, the more I looked at the roof vent the more I thought it looked too big, so I took the angle grinder to it!!!

Chopping the sides out and curving them slightly to allow me to bend down to a nicer height, I then packed it and added some weights to hold it in place and fibre glassed it up first with resin and glass fibre matting then with some good old P40, managed to get a skim of filler on it later this afternoon, I’m pretty pleased with it,

Before…

After…

Plus with a smaller opening there will be less air into the car as I think before it would have gone past the Mini vents I have for the inside (probably making a whistling noise!!)

I’ve also got the Mk2 Astra hazard switch wired in and finally the wipers park when switching off , I had a problem where they were stopping mid cycle, as I wasn’t using the timer control unit or original switch/stalk it took a little working out which didn’t help that the motor was actually faulty, so passed it to my mate who likes fixing these kind of things he drilled the rivets out and removed the back plate then cleaned up the contacts, one was pretty worn so I will probably replace the motor at some point but working now.

Body electrics are pretty much finished just the switch console to build next and steering wheel switches.

Then after more photoshopping I have finally decided on this paint scheme, may not keep the roof black, I found the pic from google with a black roof already.
