Made the splitter up this morning with the help of the old man!!

As IÂ’m using 9mm ply I layered it up and gave it a bit of shape raising the center up and sides lower,

Bit of a pain as the tow hooks ended up right on top of the splitter which I kind of knew it would so I decided best to cut some holes so the tow hooks are still usable, not sure what affect this will haveÂ…

Also had to cut a hole for exhaust clearance

So some picsÂ…

Glued and screwed the layers onÂ…

Edges planed and sanded upÂ…

Still might trim the width off a bit more so its meets the bumper width, but will create the fixings first so I can see it in position,

Then to decide whether to fibreglass it or paint and lacquer itÂ…

thought I'd do a little update now that much has changed with the Astra
been to a few local Subaru meets so met a few of you off here,

Got a few pics and mini write up in performance Vauxhall from billing

so car has been running well still not had it mapped so taking easy on boost for long periods, I had a few more issues with fuel it was getting hot, so something I should have checked a while ago is the filter, so whipped it off and it was a bit clogged mainly what looked like foam from the tank,

since cleaned the fuel pumps are running quieter and cooler, over the winter I will clean tank and when I put foam back in will be more careful not to catch it on the tank as this is possibly where the small pieces have come from, also going to put a fuel tap as it was a pain to get filter off with fuel in the tank.

then I have a list of jobs that I'm going to do over the winter so car will come off the road sometime in Nov...

Here's a few main items from my list

  • Fit New Turbo vf28 (nothing to big but should see me with 320hp)
  • New Ecu or use EcuLabs software
  • Remap
  • Hardpipe intake to turbo
  • Corsa C Epas
  • fuel cooler on return to tank
  • connect up oil cooler
  • remount and tidy fusebox
  • hydraulic handbrake
  • tidy wiring to switch panel
  • paint floor inside light grey (white gets to messy)
kind of looking forward to taking it to pieces again

well iv just spent a fair bit of time reading all of this post and well im in aw. you have made one of the nicest looking cars with a killer sound track that i have seen and heard in a very long time and whats even better is that you've done 99% of it your self as and when funds allowed and not just get some one else to do it for you. so on that note i take my hat of to you and i hope itll keep evolving and you keep us all posted:-)

Won a new an6 Mocal oil cooler the other day off ebay to use as a fuel cooler on the return line, so I picked up a few fittings and had some left over pipe from before so I decided to fit it today,
Made up some brackets and it was all going well until I drilled the second hole,

I was just starting the hole and then was going to move a piece of plate over as the brake reservoirs are behind but I was using a new dewalt drill bit it just ripped through the panel and yes you’ve guessed into the reservoir… doh !!!

Nothing I can really do other than replace it so ordered a new one, then cracked on with the fuel cooler, I’ve mounted in this position to utilise some of the air flow from the scoop.

Still hoping to get out in it over next few weeks so not starting any of the bigger jobs yet…
