recommend a good book
Another vote for Andy McNab and Frederick Forsythe.
As for factual books, a really good read was "Seized" by Max Hardberger - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...=docs-os-doi_0 - accounts of a bloke who for a living recovers ships from corrupt port officials etc.

Vulcan 607 - Seconded. An excellent read
Thomas Harris - Fatherland. It's fiction but could have been factual if it wasn't for D-Day! It's an interesting and gripping read as the bits drop into place, especially the alternate King of England and President Kennedy.

sniper one has ruined reading for me at the mo!! i think i'm going to struggle to find something that will compare to it, it is awesome and i'm going to have to read it again.

fiished it today, near the end it got quite good, but overall i thought was distictly average.
a guy i work with that served there a year before the books events also though the book was incredibale.
i a civy through and through, although spent time in T.A in RLC (flame suit on lol) so have a bit of an understanding on very basic military training. still the book was no-where near as good as any of the steven hawkings books ive read.
its quite probable i just dont have the "connection" - but next is "story ofa secret state" - is that going to be a let down in comparison?
