A predictable politician's reply much as I said and expected.
Granny and Gramps are (or were as they are undoubtedly now towing the common line for fear of becoming pariahs) in fact merely suffering from a lack of understanding as opposed to exhibiting signs of intolerable bigotry like Urban.
If I were in Gramp's shoes I might feel that someone was patronising me.

I couldn't give a **** if you feel my answer was patronising, it's not my fault you can't grasp the remarkably simple fact that our understanding of things improves over time. It's not f**king rocket science is it FFS! or are you still scared of fire and offering up a newly slain goat whenever it thunders.

We live in a time where most intelligent people realise that homosexuality is perfectly normal, maybe that wasn't the case in granny and gramps (sic) time.

That being said my grandparents on my mother's sifde (I didn't know my father's side) had no issues with it, they certainly didn't declare them unnatural, call them homos, gheyers, shirtlifters etc. or proclaim they should be put to death!

Perfectly normal or perfectly fashionable at the moment?

How you treat a gay person is up to you as you are an individual with an opinion based on knowledge(or lack of) and experience. Quite frankly I don't care how you treat homosexuals either as it does not affect me.

You may or may not have noticed I have argued that homosexuality is wrong in every way I could, even contradicting things I have said repeatedly but in reality very little of it actually had to do with homosexuality, I just cannot stand the same opinionated ***** on this forum trying to force their opinion as fact on every debate this place ever has.....which is probably why its so quiet now in general.

Politically correct fanyards.

but you continually feel the need to try undermine my thoughts or reasoning, calling me names ect??

i could just post up," jamz im not gay, but id happily use you as a johnny" but where would that get me? likely no where fast!

why do you feel the need for that, when i just say what i think?

you not think that makes your comments less likely to be discussed?

my thinking represents my expeirience, and any of your responses hold no relevance in my thought process, imo your comments represent non-logical and non relevant opinions.

they are however your own to air, but if i were you id air them in a different fashion you choose to use. but thats just me

Sorry Jef, what I said wasn't actually directed at you other than I don't care how you treat homosexuals. I was just summing up my thoughts on this thread.

I don't think I called you names either, if I did I apologise.

To be fair, people from both sides of the fence try to force their views on others. You can see it as PC, but I see both sides arguing just as much as the other, because no matter what the point of view is, the person holding it feels that they are right.

I have made my opinion known, but as I said in my last post about my Dad, I may not agree with his and I will put my point across, but ultimately, he is entitled to his, as I am to mine. Unless we were to cease having discussions, there are going to be disagreements. Is that what we would prefer? Would the site be better if people weren't allowed to debate? Would it have been better to just lock or moderate this thread to not allow for some of the comments that have been made (I'm asking this directly to Jamz, not everyone else)? One minute, people want more relaxed moderation to allow for controversial discussion, the next everyone complains that they don't like what is being posted, well, that is life, people don't all agree and if they want to freely be able to debate, they all have to respect that there will be comments along the way that they don't like, no matter what side of the fence they are on.

Have to say I'm disappointed at the calls for censorship and the recommendation that punitive measures be taken against people of a different opinion. Fwiw, apart from the culture editor on Channel 4 who I find completely untakeable (so to speak), I can quite happily rub along with gay people. As an aside however, the homophobes should take comfort from the fact that now gays are able to live their life openly, they're significantly less likely to get married and have children and therefor their genes will removed from the pool. Over time, liberal attitudes should reduce the number of gays and conservative attitudes will increase them. Alanis should have put that in her song.

It ought to have been called 'unlucky' or 'unfortunate', don't you think? Ironic, really.
