What would Granny and Gramps have had to say regarding two chaps playing with their rusty sheriff's badges back in the early 1950's I wonder? Or adopting a child? I am confident they and most others would have been disgusted and not shy with their condemnation of the poofs (as they were called back in the days before enlightenment struck us all).

The views of the vocal majority are undoubtedly right now, much as they probably were in 1955. And 1965. And 1975. And ....

 

c_maguire, times change, and with it our views, so you are maybe right in the sense that people think they are right at whatever point in time and that will always change.

As for my grandparents, 3 out of 4 are dead, so I can't ask them what they think now, and I was far too young for that discussion to have popped up when they were here. I can say my Dad was very anti-homosexual, not something I have talked to him about recently, but I wouldn't be shocked if his opinion is still the same. That is his choice, but I can't agree with his mindset. I can put forward my point of view,(as I have in the past) but I can't make him change his.

 

I like to think that as time moves on society becomes more educated and accepting of things that were once unacceptable due to a lack of understanding.

Otherwise we would still be burning witches at the stake although I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of urban still thought that was a good idea too
