im not trying to take anything away from all the hard work thats gone into this im sure it hasnt been easy especially in such a short time, well done to all involved lets just say im less than impressed with the current model and have been waiting for this upgrade since the day after it was fitted
This is one of the points I'm always trying to make.
The original ECU never had a problem at all. It was what it was and we were grateful for it, considering what was about in 2006.
There are 1400 SimTeks out there made between those dates, and most of them are working just fine.
What does it take to have an issue with an individual car? Well, not very much really, they just can't all run like clockwork. For me, I'd love to get hold of your car and turn it around, although I know there are plenty of others who can do the same thing.
If you're still having problems at any stage in the future, you give me a call, and I'll see what can be done.
The details are everything.

It will require some mapping, but then it's an opportunity to take advantage of!

If I sent my simtec away I would have to have it remapped to my car again but would it be a standard remap charge or is it more expensive with the new one Alan?

That's up to you, in that there are a lot more options with this ECU that you may wish to take up. 8 map permutations for example!
If you just go for the basics, it won't require more than a basic map and your mapper will price it accordingly.

Almost all of them.
In other words, all '93 to '98's '99's and 2001 on.
Pardon my ignorance, were there any made before 2007 that will not be upgradeable?

Hi Alan,

I have the customer programing kit for my old style Simtek,
Would it still work if the ecu was updated or would I require a new program?

Kieron.

My belief is that there are some very early versions that can't be done, I don't think it's more than 50 out of the 1400 supplied. Only the serial number would help with that one.

There seems to be some very good stuff with the new set up so might well be interested and as you guys would be doing my mapping I guess I should speak to you and see what would be a best set up

Any AlcaTek dealer can handle it.

Ok so between 50-70 that aren't possible to be upgraded and it's possible to trace the age of the ECU by the serial number.

Next silly question

Is there a quick easy way to check your own ECU serial number for it's age? Or do I have to contact my mapper or Alcatek?

I bought my ECU second hand a few weeks ago and want to make sure it's possible to have it upgraded.

between 1 and 70.. the hardware 1 to 50 are different and deffo not possible, numbers 51 to 70 are on a cross over but unlikely.

Its on the ecu board.. E1S.XX.YYYY where XX is the model year of car it works on and YYYY is the serial number.

Simon

Just let us have the serial number and we'll tell you as much as we know about it!

Couple of screenshots of Toucan, showing a main gauge screen with the antilag and launch control buttons, and one of the launch RPM adjustment screen.

I'll be on the Engine Tuner stand at Japfest, along with Andy Leech from AlcaTek, so why not come along and see it all in action
