but they dont look oem to me as the edges are rounded and they are square edged on the genuine ones if you compare the two,so not sure how they would line up if you have a genuine 05 bumper. not saying they wouldnt this is just what i noticed from your pics.

little difference but its still a difference.

im not looking to argue with you as the quality and the finish looks good on yours so if your happy then thats all that matters just offering my opinion on the mod as i did it a while ago and opted for a different route to you and was posting my experience and why i chose the route i went down, this is after all what a forum is about.

Can Black-Hawk and tubbytommy please have a communal hug, there really is no point in arguing on minor points / different interpretations of effectively the same thing.

You both have what you wanted but by slightly different methods, neither is wrong.

At no point did i say anything about black hawks mod i was merely replying to the point about people calling me a liar about price and people saying its mad paying £127 plus vat for each arch (which i totally agree).

so i provided a link to back up my claim if getting them for £106 for the pair, which the usual know it alls claimed was not possible.

these come ready painted and 81 dollars = 51 pounds and the delivery is cheap quick and tracked.
they will fit correctly and the paint will match your car, also saves the cost on having the parts painted.

i have a narrow track sti and fitted these to my sti after i bought an 05 bumper.
if your going to do the job do it with the correct genuine parts

so there you go,not £127 plus vat, maybe people should do a bit of research before taking the p1ss.
this way is cheaper as they fit a1 and can be bonded on just like the ht ones if you dont wish to drill and you dont need to pay to get them painted them either or worse still bodge paint them with halfords rattle cans...
i drilled as per factory fitting as i have the skills do do this but feel free to pritt stick or selotape as you wish.
some people have been around subarus for more than six months and know what they are talking about
Well found, but as my car is not an 05 onwards colour I would probably have to get them resprayed anyway. Always the chance to get stung for import duty which would make these no cheaper than the ones from ht autos, and in any case I would rather support a british company, especially one as prevalant on this website than pay jonny foreigner (no racism intended) my hard earned.
Bodge with rattle cans you say, well I wouldn't use halfords crap, only good quality rattle cans and my bumper job has passed the scrutiny and critisism of my brother, who would be the first to pick holes in my work, and also a good mate of mine that use to work in accident repair trade so its good enough for me. Pritt stick, now that sounds like a plan .
I have had the Subaru for four years now, not six months and know a little about it but I will not pretend to know everything and every place to get parts from.
Didn't mean to cause offence in reply to your last comment, only having a giggle.
Nice car by the way .

Edit, looking at the link that you kindly provided, that is $81 per side not per pair

buy british and not support johnny foreigner, you do know subaru are a japanese car manafacturer dont you?
r.e. rattle cans, this is not a method for me as i doubt you will ever get a factory finish from them, but regardless of this you will still have to buy them unless you steal them.
yes 81 dollars each which is 51 pounds sterling or there abouts which makes a pair cheaper than one from a uk dealer
at no point whatsoever did i say anything about ht autos products.
i think they are a great company and in fact have a diffusser from them fitted to may car already.

Lol, yes but I didn't buy it from Subaru I bought it from a British independant car dealer but that isn't really my point, that is about as relevant as saying you can buy genuine ready painted arches for £80 when you quite blatantly can't.

I will at some point upload a picture of my arches and rear bumper and then you can form your own opinion of a decent rattle can finish, and the arches appear to match up well with the oem 05 STI bumper.

81 dollars = 51.12 uk pounds
did you not see the link which part of this is untrue?
maybe the arches fit and line up ok i have never seen any ht autos ones but have never said they wouldnt, but by buying genuine not only are they going to fit but you dont have to paint either (for me as my car is wr blue).

You quite clearly stated on a number of occasions in this thread that you can get them painted for £80= fact
I have looked on the website and they are $81 per side, or $162 per pair = fact. Shipping is extra, therefore you CAN NOT get these for £80 = fact.
I paid under £70 for the pair delivered with VAT.
If customs decided to it could put import duty on top of the cost of the ones you provided the link for, irrespective if they are a small item or not, that is just the luck of the draw.
Will probably cost me £25 to paint these and I enjoy it .

where did i say you get them for £80?
i said 80 dollars each painted which is £52ish i bought them from there didnt pay customs charges or paint them so for me it was more cost effective that was my ONLY point i like ht autos products but on this occasion genuine parts were the best option.

What im actually doing is putting them onto my unaffected rear bumper with double sided tape, no "filler splashing" here

Er, right there, on post #11 of this thread!

Can't see how black hawk is going to f**k his bumper up, my guess is he will stick them on a-la the wheel arch trims thus leaving the bumper un modified.

Edit: ^ like that!

and what i did is not bodge it and fit genuine parts that just blot straight on and are ready painted in the correct colour, no tape or bonding as subaru intended.

i provided pics of the job and i would suggest it is a factory finish

He is making seperate wedges that stick to the bumper, and as such can be removed if wanted leaving no sign that they were ever there.
