Had a **** load of snow here.
Was fun watching all the idiots out the window last night. We have a transit van and a 1 series BMW dumped outside.
Think I'll just turn the heating up and have a lazy one on the sofa.

If its just slush then leave it in auto (new age or bottom green on a classic), if its compact snow or fresh then either (depending on how stable the car feels), 1st or 2nd orange, you will bearly need to put the car in full lock.

So I was planning on going out last night, had a gig to go and watch (bit of a flop but thats another story), and the gritters had been out (too late, snow already on the ground), and it wasnt the conditions for anything but the scoob with her snow shoes fitted

First thing you notice is that if you find any ruts then they will pull you a little, hitting a batch of fresh snow is ok but a batch of ice/frozen snow will give you a little shock (but you will have control, just a fair bit of feedback through the steering).
I gently drove down the road, it was a lovely white colour braking was good and so was stability on the winters, I was very generous and let all those none winter tyre drivers past me first, then carried on at a steady pace.

I made it to the motorway (though for some reason I still had the odd car wanting to get close to my rear bumper on the compact snow of the A road, which was untreated), cars either side would have made braking difficult for them, some numpties about

Well off on to the motorway, just as bad as the A road, no treatment but no cars on there either (big plus ) so happily chugged along at around 35mph, passing cars going sideways up the hill on the other side of the road mainly mercs and audi's

The most interesting part was the VW van driver who thought it would be a good idea to cross a lane to overtake some cars, the funny part was that he carried on crossing those lanes and very narrowly missed hitting the barrier, where he came to a compete stop and couldnt move
I only passed 1 (semi) jack knifed truck, and considering it had been snowing since just before midday and it was a good 7 hours later, the guy on the motorbike probably thought it was a good idea to take that out in snow...

Reaching the junction I needed, I had passed a few cars at 40mph (it wasnt as bad there, more slush than anything), and was flashed several times by some guy in a fwd car with summer tyres on, no doubt thinking I was some sort of 2wd car with summer tyres also (who was foolish enough to be driving in that!), then stopped at a set of lights at the junction and happily pulled off without any wheelspin (which probably annoyed the SEAT driver to my right who was more in the right lane than the left), but the conditions where treacherous for cars with summer tyres on (and rwd especially).

With the thaw coming it will be all slush, maybe some ice tonight so drive carefully, keep your distance and regulate your speed to the conditions, not worth flooring it round roundabouts as you will probably just end up smashing into something more solid than your car

Usual carnage in Wycombe, lots of car abandoned in the centre of town because people couldn't get up either of the big hills last night. All the main roads seem to be sorted today though.

i managed to get out of my garage ok on summer tyres, but trying to reverse back into my garage proved abit squirmy heh, ended up going in forwards
there was a fair few inches of snow, the fresh stuff was a doddle, the stuff that had been compacted was a bit more interesting :d
