Agree with above tax credits are usually awarded to people with children so someone who doesn't understand contraception can have 4 or 5 kids and be much better off than someone else who maybe on a higher paid job but decides to just have a family they can afford. But not an easy thing for any government to sort out.
Easy peasy .....
Added: or, even better, in 9 months time no more child benefit (that is, no NEW child benefit. What you get now is all you get ever and it slowly reduces to zero ....).

You wont have to buy her a car, just pretend she has bad back and she will get brand new mobility car every 3 years
Right I have an idea to get myself a nice payrise over my crap paid job
1) knock the mrs up 4 times
2) quit my job and go on benefits
3) buy her a people carrier to transport kids in
4) buy myself a gtr with the astronomical amounts of benefits and housing benefits I'll be getting
All this crap irritates me because the people claiming these stupid amounts of cash aren't (in most cases) looking for work at all and are just out for an easy ride. Instead of working for the things they want (like myself and most of the country) they should just be ****ing shot and done with as it would probably solve a quarter of the countries debt

Saw an interview of a youngish chinese student the other day in england , she said back home they had this policy of only being allowed to have one child........
My argument was with the bishop , just saw it as rather hypocritical

But you are right, there is a big hole.
Additionally, it should never have got to a stage where it is better to be on benefits than to work, and worse still, have the option to become a baby factory to have it even better. The whole system needs a real shake up, even if the cap happens, I'm not so sure just capping benefits is enough. I don't feel this way because I'm heartless and don't feel for people worse off, I feel this way because I have no time for people who think it's their right to be completely kept by the state and put nothing in. I personally feel it would be better to support those lower paid in some way, so they are out there working but can have some reasonable standard of living, than to just pay people to sit on their **** with everything handed to them on a plate and to use children as extra income.

A bloke in Spain gets the £400 fuel allowance
My parents and neighbours in a exclusive area all get the fuel allowance and half of them go abroad for the winter and yes they all er tv licence free as well
Am I missing a trick that benefits should be means tested
And of course the local polish workers get their child benefit sent back to the kids in Poland

No need to be sorry.

Their arrogance in that they feel it is their god given right that they should be entitled to these benefits beggars belief in some cases. They leave school with the sole aim to sponge off the state for all they can get. There definitely needs to be a radical change to the benefit system to make it less attractive to live on benefits as a career option. But I fear this will take some time since the public services that provide these benefits are themselves riddled with inefficiencies and bureaucracy.
