Amateur Budget 2.1 Stroker Project

It was a nightmare, possibly the wettest and windiest day of the year. It was an exchange as I'm a council scumbag so we were moving into each others houses at the same time.
I've now been "smoke free" now for a month. Even when I did smoke I went outside, but I've now found out just how much damage smoking does to the decor in a house.
Very strange feeling going back to the house you've spent 5 years decorating to see 2 strangers smoking their heads off in your living room .

Ere kwik when you split your block halves ,was there a dale by the oil modine? (on the top pulley end corner with the # marks)as iv removed all 18 bolts and its split everywhere, except by the # mark .im gonna bolt it back together and try releasing that end first but just wondered what was holding that corner .

Dale? It perplexed me for a while why the block wouldn't come apart, which is why after much frustration I stupidly tried using a blunt instrument.
I think you mean dowel? Yes I'm sure there was a dowel there, and if it doesn't split at the right angle the dowel will prevent it moving. Like you suggest I nipped up all the bolts to straighten it then took them back out and knocked it with a rubber mallet at the offending end to release that end first this time.

Hands up for the earlier dalebut that last one was predictive text honest lol
There is a DOWEL in that corner (just for the record lol)
do you know for 100% the big ends are the same?
as i don't want to end up with a box of bits that won't fit ,obviously i know the acl's will have to be ordered for "phase 1"as they call it
cheers clive

A very very minor update. I picked up some spare 16"s with budget boots off of Moley on Friday night. The MOT is due in January, and 2 of my tyres are dodgy.
The last thing I need right now is to have to pay out for a set of tyres on a set of alloys I won't be keeping just to get through the MOT, especially as I have an assessment for my bike license in a few weeks and hopefully the car will be able to be garaged soon.
But! after buying the wheels and looking them over I feel it would be a little rude not to freshen them up a bit.... (Did I mention my mrs won't drive it while it has gold wheels?).
Thanks Moley! Top bloke and 2 lovely cars you have there bud!.

I'm thinking white Craigo, but need help with a colour match
But remember I'm not Ryan (prodriverrules) and not looking to do an A+ job when I only have a rattle can lol. This is just a little muck about to see if it has a better effect on the tatty-ness.

Jca coatings in Crawley is who i buy from. You ll need 8 rattle cans paint. 4-8 primer. At least 3 clearcoat... But i would advise getting the top coat done professionally.

Good project Kwik, would love to rebuild my engine if I had some money spare.
What options crank wise are there for an early closed deck block to handle 450-550bhp? Say I didn't want to machine the thrust bearing?
Gaz
