Why does a Japanese car use Roman numerals ?

 

This may be a silly question but having not seen a Tek2 IRL or on the web, is it a re-coding of the original 801/2 boxs like I would be sending back or is it a completely new unit that says Tek2 on the side?

Would a Dec98 UK Impreza be classed as an MY99 (the dealer says its the 99 version ??) and or would the Tek1 be available for it if not. Ecoteks site refers to MY99 and above as being the only supported re-mappable cars...

Yes it would depending on the build date. One surefire way is to check the label on the ECU and check it is AE800 or AE801 (black or brown - first most likely).
