Had the S206 had been available for £30K it would have been unbelievable value especially against boggo spec UK cars for £35k.

Last time I was in Japan I was shocked how expensive everything was since I'd been in 2005. £200 for a steak in a good restaurant in Tokyo...

Swings and roundabouts and all that, hopefully it'll go back to how it was before one day :-)

It is ashame about the yen v sterling the JDM's are as you say superior in every way, especially with the later engines they now have (something like a 20% improvement in fuel and performance), nothing in the uk comes close to what a factory limited edition car does, and we know that the JDM market does get the 2.5 ltr engine (Forester STI and Impreza 2.5 AUTOMATIC) but with the reduced 265ps output.
UK v JDM, really there is no contest, the JDM wins hands down though it will be nice to see what the new 2.5 phase 2 engine is like, hopefully it wont be as bad as everything we have gotten upto and including the 2013 car

Tony

PS, Immy have you seen the performance figures for the 1/4 mile of the Cosworth CS400?
Consider this, the 2003 STI Spec C 17 inch could do the 1/4 in 13 dead with 280ps/290lbs at 108 (4.3-60) the CS400 does the same (0-60 in 3.7) 1/4 mile in 12.75@107mph (official figures for both cars btw) and 120ps difference (thats more gear changes in the Spec C )

Nice attempt at a windup I'll get a ten year old car with plastic windows and buy some earmuffs next time

If you can find a stock RA that actually runs 280psi make sure you change the filters and plugs because there's something wrong with it.

However even with what I'd expect to be north of 320ish I do find those figures a little difficult to believe. Maybe they used the same guy who managed the performance figures for the WR1?

From what I gather the quoted quarter mile time for the S204 was 13.0 and for the R205 it is 13.2. I have tried to find figures for the S206 but they have so far eluded me...

It would appear that our cars are getting slower or the clocks are counting quicker

Ignorance is bliss sometimes
My first Spec C 17 inch version ran 288bhp the first time it was on the rolling road, pretty close to the quoted 280ps figure I think
Of course over time it did improve, most push out over 300bhp from the box, and no they didnt use the same guy who tested the WR1, the figures are the official subaru Japan figures on the Spec C and I have no idea where you get the plastic windows idea from as Spec C's have glass windows, and I really doubt you have driven one as your understanding of this car (or any JDM twin scroll or model range tbh) seems a little lacking...
If you want to see how good the CS400 does with the competition then just look here

My 2006 Hawk Sti in bog standard form made 322 BHP and then made 327bhp remapped to UK fuel. It was then altered to a type20 so Miltek exhaust system and nee panel filter it made 350bhp

Iirc the spec C had the ball bearing twin scroll turbo and made an extra 10bhp

Although not huge gains in the top BHP front most mods from std vastly improved the spool up time and nearly eliminated turbo lag.

I really can't understand why I bought a UK car again

That's why I would use a MY03 Spec c as a base car my track toy. the only thingI would do is add the MY05 hubs etc.

I agree I think the claims of driving certain JDM's maybe a little over zealous. Otherwise you would have an understanding of the difference being night and day!
I guarantee if you had driven an R205 which you haven't because the one you drove was silver/grey(they never come in silver/grey) you would have bought one over the CS400. Hence you having to buy all the R205 suspension goodies to put on your car

The CS400 is a nice car don't get me wrong but it's no R205/S206
