Ok, so a lot has been going on lately including getting married and moving house so things have been rather kaotic to say the least lol.
Anyway! i'll start with the exhaust, I've got a 3inch downpipe fitted to the car and I had a load of 2 1/2 inch stainless exhaust pipe lying around so I brought a reducer and a 3inch flange so the new exhaust can bolt to the downpipe.

I have only used one silencer so I'm hoping its not going to be to loud for a track noise test I will have to get a db tester and test it myself first.
The tailpipe is just a tatty 2.5inch pipe sticking out the back (group b rally style) lol.
Standard headers ported and wrapped.

Engine Breathers.
I have removed the factory pcv valve and vented the crankcase and heads into a vented catch can that I have made up my self.

Dash board switch panel fitted.

Now this was a job I wasn't looking forward to doing, fabricating an under tray for the intercooler, this has taken hours of cardboard templates and a few swear words to get right its made from thin sheet metal and covered in carbon wrap, I'm hoping this will duct some air to the intercooler I know this would work better with a scoop but it would look silly, I have fitted a water spray system and may fit a fan under the cooler if needs be.

I've also fitted some black mesh to the side vents and fitted some rubber edging strip.

More on the way....

Prop Shaft.
I have shortened this myself and kept it true using a dial indicator I've managed to get it close but not completely true, I'm going to run the car on the axel stands if it vibrates then I will get it properly balanced if it doesn't then happy days.

This is how much I had to shorten the prop.

The coolant system is now filled up with water, I mounted the coolant header tank as high as I could in the engine bay to make filling the system easy and I've fitted a clear pipe to the top of the radiator in the boot so I can see when it is all full.
As you can see in the pic the water has made its way up the clear tube so I know the system is full.

The engine is almost ready to fire up, I have removed and rebuilt the oil pump and re sealed the water pump and put it all back together with new idler bearings, tensioner, timing belt and treated it to some fresh fluids, the inside of the sump and oil pump were really clean not a spot of sludge so it looks like it has been looked after, the oil pump relief valve also had 2 shims on it which i think i read some where is a slight upgrade in pressure i may be wrong.

Oil pump sealed with some Anaerbic sealer.

Boot lid.
I have spent a lot of time on this, i want a louvered tail gate ( T16 style ) to let out some heat so i have cut out the outer skin and fitted some brackets to re enforce it and bolt on three bar grilles that i have made out of plastic cable trunking... yes you read right, cable trunking lol sounds bonkers and it might look ****e but i will wait until its all painted and see how it looks.

When i moved out my old house i sent the car off to the paint shop, i think it deserves a nice lick of paint.

This worked out well as it gave me chance to move all my stuff to the new house and get the garage ready for the car.
And a few weeks later it turned up looking pretty awesome if i don't say so myself.

And a couple of pics just after it was painted.

I'm just waiting for the doors and boot lid to come back now.
I just want to say thanks to Mark for painting the car and thanks to Ian for introducing me to him i'm really chuffed with it.
Cheers James.

Looking good, bet your new neighbours wondered what had turned up!!!
Doors were in the booth the other day but then the compressor blew up... Not sure if they were done this week might pop over tomorrow evening... I took your grill apart rather than it being masked up...
Hope the prop works out, if mine was a case of shortening I think I'd have a go myself.

I didn't know the compressor blew up, how's yours coming on?
Nice one for stripping the grill down.
