Most of those on invalidity allowance aren't injured/damaged in any way!

It was a political way to decrease the numbers of the jobless - started by Maggie Thatcher and improved by Blair

So you're saying that your parents never claimed child benefit for you when you were growing up, and I think as some point or another you have mentioned that you have managed to "further the species" I guess you never claimed benefit for your kids either

As for the OP, sounds like the DSS (or whatever they call themselves these days) are doing their job. If all you are claiming for is legit then you'll get your money once they are satisfied. As a hard working tax and NI payer who detests benefit cheats it's good to hear that they are being thorough.

Really?

So when you are ill they just put up a hospital just to see you?

The problem is that when the Welfare State was set up it started at that moment so everyone working now is paying for people now not themselves regardign money claims but the welfare state is about a lot more than that and I bet you've had plenty out of it in your life.

Bins collected? Yes you pay council tax but that is topped up by central government and before that even more so.

To say the state has never done anything for you is complete and utter drivel. You are able to type it are you not so I suspect you went to school, was it a state one by any chance? Isn't it great that you are able to spout off like that too? Perhaps that is because the state ensures you have the right to do so.

You are hardly a cave dwelling hermit are you now?

I am not a fan of the waste, inefficiency and general ineptitude of the public sector but it bugs the hell out of me when people say "i've never had a penny off the state". I've never claimed any job allowance either but I'm not so daft as to think my taxes and those of my parents have never benefited me in any way.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. I'd been separated from my wife for a few years, but we were still living together in the same house. I was then made redundant and made a claim for JSA. I too was completely honest with them, but they forced me to move out, or I'd get no money. I gave them a female friends address, and they tried to say we were living as a couple, so again I'd get no money. It took eight weeks for that to get sorted after I appealled.

The mad thing is - I've got another job, but the building doesn't get handed over from the builders until the 28th October so my contract starts the 31st.....the rate this is going, I'll get my first wage at the backend of November before i get my dole from the 25th of august lol

Dont think I'm ignorant and don't understand why they're doing it - of course it SOUNDS a little....awkward and have scum of the earth trying it on, but I could have just said she was my landlord and lived elsewhere - would they have went down the deception route then???? I doubt.

Scunnered - how long was the appeal process from start to finish?

Yes I think they would.
They will have heard every story, every reason and every excuse. I can guarantee that at least once a day they hear "I'm not like all these other scroungers".
Trust me on this

i am afraid it is a fact that for life to get better for the few, life has to get harder for the many

a few **** rolls of the dice and you are history

and that's just the way it is

I can't remember exactly, as it was a few years ago. I think it was around three weeks.

You could try some of the local job agencies, you might get a temporary contract for a month or two that will tide you over.

Just as an aside I went into a Job Centre for the first time in my life last week to hand in a form to stop my mother's state pension after her death and it was like landing on Planet Scum - most of the people in there just need exterminating IMO.... I pity the staff that have to work there!

It has been said before, but it's worth repeating .... there are now a LOT of scum living in some form of underclass, where work is a dirty word and benefit claims are their job in life ... no role models except those with half a brain and never worked an hour in their life.

They really do need removing from society, they serve no purpose, contribute nothing, take a lot and are totally anti-social ....... the Travellers and Gipsies must be their idols!? Do-as-u-likeies .... in the mean time we work, struggle, conform, for what? To allow these scum their 'rights'? Have we got it right - or have they got life sorted? I do wonder sometimes that we are the mugs in all this.

The state actually owes you nothing. I know it's hard to accept - but that's how it is.

To get some money when needed it is up to us all to save for ourselves - that's what I have done each month of my long working time. I have not had a penny from the state and not been given a penny.

No-one has a right to anything ........ except what they arrange for themselves.

Granted, I get REALLY angry at immigrants arriving here and getting everything for nothing (MY taxes!) .... but, that does not affect the fact that I would get absoluetly NOTHING from the state if I lost my job tomorrow.

We all need to adjust to the idea that we need to be accountable for ourselves!

From someone who has paid at least £200,000 into the system for zero return, EVER!

strange, the governments own figures suggest that anyone born before 1960 has actually recieved £200,000 MORE than they've paid in thanks to help with pensions/morgages/taxes (especially if you can afford an accountant) and various forms of credits and reliefs all designed over the years to get their vote generally paid for by exploiting natural resources (which belong to everyone), cutting support to those that can't do anything about it or stealing from those who can't defend themselves (we still have/are helping build an empire and don't kid yourselves)
Problem is there's not much left to steal so we now can't afford the huge midde class that has been born to those babyboomers who all expect the same cushy lives and fat bloodmoney pensions, so the message now seems to be if you've made/stolen/helped steal enough money to be able to play with it you can live off of everyone else, if not tough luck should have gone to a posh school and learned to be a better parasite like us.
Hope things improve for you soon, unfortunately you have to keep bugging them or your claim will probably "get lost" again.

UPDATE:

Had the 'inspector' come out to visit me, he was more than happy with what he seen/heard and told me to claim 'contributions based JSA' because i had been working for more than 6 months previous.... so i signed a statement he made - and the ****** got turned down because they look at the last TWO full tax years WTF so their inspector doesn't know what he's on about, BTW i had to ring and find out as no letters or phonecalls were made TO me. so i've had to RE APPLY for 'income based JSA' now.....they said they would fax it urgently, heard nothing for 4 days so i rang their 0845 number (phonebills gonabe pretty the amount of phoned them) and they said they only receieved the first two pages of the new claim form...yet nobody thought to ring me? so now i've got to go do it all again - why can't people do their jobs FFS no wonder the country is going to pot, when im at work i make sure i finish one thing before moving onto the next AAAARRGGHHH over 2 months since i last had money now and not ate for a week solid but do they give a ****? nooooooo.
