Am I missing the point here, but I`m sure all 3 of them look over 18... "GET A ****ING JOB".....

I`m sure your poor old Mother is worth the effort of the 3 of you getting a crappy minimum wage paid job and getting the Money that way....
Stop falling back on a Benefit system which you seem to think is there to pay for everything....

The Mother was probably quite well entitled for her Benefits (I have no problem when it comes to those that really do need help)......... But now Mum has gone, grow up, get a job and start paying for things like most of us have to... Grrrrrrrrr

The Funeral Directors, whether we like it or not, are there to make money selling a commodity..... Death is a very profitable business to be in... Always customers needing final farewells...... If the Funeral Home is seen giving cheaper deals for this family, then everyone would expect it.... Bang goes his profit....

I feel for the poor Mother, I`m not religous, but it`s not right that she has been left like lost luggage... Very Disrespectful state to be in...

But it`s still down to the 3 Lazy ******* to get off their ***** and get jobs and maybe go round to the estranged sibling and drag him to the Funeral Home to see the sorry state of his Mum and dip his hand in his/her pocket.....

If they are really that poor then I feel sorry for them. Can't understand why there is no provision for a funeral when the financial position is that bad.

The same as your dads. I think that is about average, but from what my mum said, it was a bit 'no frills'.
We didn't have a church service, as he didn't believe in god, so we did t think it in his best wishes to take him to church, against his will (so to speak!)

A simple cremation, and then people at my mums. All food done by us.

I expect if you are going the whole hog it could cost a fair few thousand.

Two thousand pound. Which will probably get you all you need at a basic level, but if you out in the effort, and have people to help out, you can still get everything done well.

That said, I'm not sure how much it costs for the use of the church?

dont get me wrong there not in your face salsemen, pushing. but its subtle undertones, sales techniques.

i want to be a dead scare crow an my kids/wife can keep the money saved, or just throw me in the water somewhere, who gives a fck, im dead anyway and aslong as my family is happy to oblige - thats my deathwish. ive already made it perfectly clear if this doesnt happen, illbe an unhappy corpse lol

Not everyones cup of tea.... But I don`t want to be a financial burden once I`m gone.
After all, no matter how much your Family spends on you after you`ve gone... It won`t make you (As the deceased Feel any Better about yourself)... LoL

My mother died on the 12th AUgust, and the funeral was £3k+, and that was very simple. No church, cremation, and a small wake at a local hotel. Good business to be in I reckon!

What I didn't realise is that the Co-op is the biggest owner of funeral directors in the UK now, and when he told us, my dad jokingly asked about "divvy", and sure enough, on the form was a slot for your Co-op card number!

Got a discount too

Don't what to do about people who don't have any money. There will always be some genuine cases where they simply cannot raise the cash, or couldn't afford a policy to pay for it. Perhaps they should automatically be donated to medical schools..............

Yeah, that they don't want to pay....just like they don't want to pay for their own lives. They expect to be 'kept' in life and in death.

I know it seems harsh, but that is how it appears. I'd have more time for them if they were low wage earners who really couldn't afford to pull out the money for a funeral and were being refused any help.

That said, they should get a budget funeral while on benefits, but the get out of jail card here for authorities is that there is a working (estranged) sibling. This obviously complicates matters, but how long will this go on for? If that sibling won't pay, then what? Whilst I have little time for people who WON'T go out to work (and I can't be sure this is the case, but it could well be) a dead person deserves to be laid to rest somehow, and the family allowed to grieve and move on.

I don't even think my dad's funeral director's fees didn't charge that much. Think it was about £2K for the coffin, 'double slot' service, crem, interning of the ashes etc, and it even covered for renting of a Jag as the leading car. If I had a Saab, cheaper coffin and didn't have a extended service instead it would be a fair bit cheaper

Most expensive bit was the headstone and the knees-up - that was a grand on its own and boy did that attract some freeloaders out the woodwork .

Thanks to you and Urban, I am glad that there is a provision if someone just cannot afford any kind of a funeral. I think that is very important. Certainly funerals seem incredibly expensive now, they seem to have jumped on the bandwagon alright.

Of course there will be people who are just not able to pay those kinds of fees.
