Being able to afford to not work does not mean he is going to pack it in completely. It could mean, not working as hard, working part time, reducing the portfolio, reducing the risk of the portfolio, etc, etc. It's similar to my plans. Couple more years of contracting and then we could reduce to 6 months of work per year, might work a little extra. In those couple of years the houses, cars and future investments will be sorted.

I do realise the figures we are talking about are much higher in your case, but the scenarios are similar.
What Graham said, in my eyes being able to afford not to work means taking a back seat and not sitting here infront of the charts for 80+ hours a week! At the moment i have the hunger and tenacity to apply myself fully, but it is draining and subsequently quality of life suffers, no holidays, little free time etc etc.

If my projections are right i should be able to amass enough wealth to sustain a reasonable future and continue to apply my skill set working that capital but without the responsibility of shareholders which will allow me to take leave of the markets from time to time and do as i wish. That is the dream and ultimate target, its up to me now to accomplish it

This is one of my business partners stocks, he loves a small cap!

Company has $500mn worth of assets, however they need further funding to extract them assets out of their mines so that is going to mean another round of capital raising as the company is only valued at £30mn. That will of course mean further dilution for current investors, which was the catalysts when they slipped from that 6-8p range back down to 4p and then well the massive risk off trade this month has seen them continue to suffer. I believe they are fully funded for the immediate future but to really show growth they probably will need to reutrn to the market and raise a fairly substantial amount in relation to what the company is valued at presently.

I must disclose i picked some up at 2.2p, and personally over the last fortnight have found myself increasing exposure to some filthy cheap small caps that have sound management and a half decent chance to grow their EBITDA. Still only a portion of my portfolio but the temptation got the better of me

Good luck

Very similar ideas, different ways of doing it though at 32 I'm starting to feel the pinch and not enjoying the work as much, so need to progress the next few years pretty quickly!!

You'll be wanting a GTR with reliability like this! If that was me I would not be pleased with £100k plus car but she seems so forgiving??? Bonkers.

Hi, missed out coming down with you guys for this one as I was in Portugal. Great time mate, I was down the last time in the white hawkeye STi. Just got beat by .01s by the GT3 and was looking forward to seeing yours run then but I guess you were still running it in?

I'm on the e-mail thread that Bainsey sends out so will drop you a note as looking to sell the Scooby for a MY11 GTR but very interested in what you've done to the TTRS as we were looking at one before we got the 911 C4S Cab.

And we all thought the TTRS was a hairdressers car, turns out the GT3 RS is a girls car too. Must be something to do with the RS branding of both cars

Hi Marc,

Last time I went with you guys I lined up to race and then an engine warning light come on so I aborted the run and headed off home. I then sold the car last month and bought the DSG version of the car.

My car only has a Stage 1 map at the moment (410hp) and as you've probably spotted in the email traffic, it recorded a very respectable 11.7, 2nd place DMS tuned 996TT (12.3) and then 3rd was the GT3 (12.5)

It was a little warm on Sunday too at 18-22c throughout the day so not ideal for tuned turbos. I have the cats coming out soon followed by a further engine and DSG tweak and I'll be back again sometime in October when it cools down a little. The car has 11.4 in it with just 420-425hp, I'm sure of it.

Not quite as quick as what I suspect a MY11 GTR is going to be but if Bainsey organises another 1 it would be good to see you there in 1 If not, have a look at the DSG TTRS's, a bargain I think at £45k

lol, interesting thread.

Regarding money. Money gives you choices, thats all. It will never bring you happiness, in fact I would be as bold as to say having more money can be a burden at times.

I have experienced first hand for a few years what it is like to be totally skint, no money whatsoever and in debt. But you know what, it was probably the happiest time of my life so far, I am 33.

Now I am not saying I am rich, and I am not waving my ***** either. However, I own two catering businesses with a combined annual turnover of 1m. But, I drive a £2.5k 1997 Subaru Forester, I have had a fair share of top marques and I always find myself back at the door of Subaru after visiting other marques, the only cars I still wish I had out of all of them are the E46 M3, and the Spec C.

There are other local business men who are always asking me why I dont buy a 911 or a Range Rover sport etc. One of them has a Bentley and a few others have the drug dealer Range Rovers all nice cars but I just cant helop thinking that they look like plonkers driving them! I just tell them that Subaru have everything that I need and all the other cars are just for posers!

Yes I have driven the 911's. the GTR's etc etc. All very nice, very fast cars and all but they are not suited to my needs. Living down a 5 mile long narrow country lane does not do the bodywork any favours, especially at this time of year with all the tourists who think that the road is for their use only!!!

The only car I may purchase is the new BMW M3, but again, I cant fit what I need in the back of this car on a daily basis.

If you can afford to buy a GTR, 911, Lambo or whatever, then excellent, you have either worked hard or been lucky.

Those that who are not so fortunate should not always think the grass is greener on the other side, because it mostly isnt. The stresses and strains of business can quickly detract from the size of your bank balance.

Just enjoy your lives and spend time with you family, family is the biggest wealth you could ever have.

That is a seriously good time for only 410 BHP, I thought you were running about 470. No doubt you'll get it down to the low 11s with a couple of tweeks.

Seriously interested in having a look at some TTRS now, at least servicing would be easier up here at Specialist Cars than going to Edinburgh/Glasgow for the GTR.

hmm choices choices, where do you normally post up on so I can follow your mod updates, Audi TT Forum?

I have a big thread on the TT forum yeah, a lot of info info about both my manual and DSG car in it. Linked to the recent 1/4m event about 1/3rd down this page...

http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/forum/view...3284&start=510

Running cost wise its incredible to be honest, with the DSG car (7th gear) CC set at 75mph, it returned 38.5mpg over 470m, I then filled up again with 56litres. Tax is cheap at £245, insurance is cheap at £650 (28) Servicings are variable but again relatively cheap. Tyres will do me 15-20k road use.

I got a very good deal on mine, cancelled order, £53k spec, down to £45k, picked it up new last month, some others have managed to get similar deals but certainly 10% is easy enough to get off a factory order should someone order a car.

Vbox timed recently, 3.30 to 60, 7.74 to 100. The vbox plot is in the video details section on YouTube

Certainly, for a car with only 410hp it's quick and it made sense for me as I do about 15k miles a year and although I did have a very good look at the GTR, I just couldn't stomach the additional running costs that come with it. My maths put it at about 2.5x more over what I'm paying out now, (Insurance- £650 upto £1350, Road tax - £245 upto £460 and fuel economy - 33mpg average in TT down to 18mpg average in GTR) there was more expensive servicings/tyres and parts aswell and obviously the initial purchase price too. Sure, the GTR is an animal and even more so when tuned, and sure the 2 cars shouldnt really be compared, I just liked what the TT offered me and went that path.

Leo

Mitchy, what boost do you run midrange and at 6000 or 7000 rpm to get 410 hp? I have to admit since moving I do not use as much of the gtr's acceleration due to tighter roads and could do with something narrower. Does the RS3 have any downsides compared to the ttrs? Is the ride firmer? If I could get snow tyres on the rs3 I could sell the Subaru too, but not sure i would be able to buy one cheaper than I could sell the gtr for. Maybe then i could build a double instead of triple garage and have massive savings all round otoh a 1m could be good as I could keep the subaru for winter.
