Nissan GTR .... Again

I thought I read the Pagani and LP700 funds? If that is not ***** waving then what is?
Perhaps he does have wife, kids and house, I never finger pointed at anyone on this thread but my post was aimed more so at the point Simon made about how some people can afford such luxuries.
Some 30 somethings are still at home, some people do not want children, valid answers to his question, no?
I've nothing to feel insecure about Trout, my life is exactly the way I want it to be. I earn a decent amount of money myself but I have come to the conclusion that it's not money or possessions that makes me happy.

Gents, I never meant to cause a fight here, I asked because I was generally interested. Alloy, I always thought of you as a trader ?? Do you work at home / alone, or city firm ?
Im not complaining, Im happy with my life. Would love a GTR and although I know I could buy one on HP, the sensible head tells me to channel my funds towards school fees and other things. :-)
Whatever the situation, loving the chitter chatter about the GTR, and would love a go in one.

Well my story is a bit of a long one....
Yes rubbish house. Missus and I bought before we started making decent money and now cannot be assed to change it. Houses in this country are a rip off!! We know our neighbours and cars are safe! Almost finished redoing the interior, so I am happy with it.
Neither me nor the other half wants kids. So no need for a big house with 5 bedrooms.
We would rather funnel our money into being able to slowing down the amount we have to work. We both work as IT contractors on decent day rates.
We currently have 4 properties and are buying more, looking at France as the missus wants to try living there.....
In 2-3 years time, we will both be in a position to to take 6 month of the year off and continue like that for a few more years buying a few more investments and then call it a day and retire (do something else).
Wears now in a position where we can buy the cars we want an I have wanted a GTR for ages, starting with the R34 GTR.
I think that pretty much covers the bases....

Hi Graham. Fair play to you mate I love reading how someone has worked hard and now enjoy's the life he's made. What do you do in It ?? Im a 39 year Solaris / Unix SA been contracting about 15/16 years now.
Two contractors together, no kids, man you must be rolling in it :-) My Mrs doesnt work now, now that we have two kids. Pre Mrs / Kids, life was cool, money was never an issue and I was about to buy myself a lovely Merc SL65, but that changed :-( Hence why I call me Mrs "Mercedes" as this is what I gave up to have her instead :-)
What sort of mpg do you get out of your GTR ? What was the insurance like ?? I know that sounds cheap, i.e. if you need to ask you cant afford, but just interested. Is road tax £400 + ?

MPG - no idea
Insurance - 1k including protected NCB, missus and trackdays
Tax - no idea, but probably
We have considered changing houses here, but don't see the need for it as we would both prefer to be in France sooner and stay where we are currently.

I'm 26, house paid off, no kids, a couple of girlfriends and when i'm not working 16hour days i spend my money on whatever i want because in my opinion i deserve to
GTR MPG averages 18/19, will get 26 on the motorway will do single digits around town (mine is modified but stock is pretty much the same), road tax just paid mine £460 which is criminal, insurance not as bad as you might think

I had a look into GTR ownership a couple of months back as I was seriously tempted myself.
Real time average around 16-18mpg
Tax is top band at £460
Insurance more than doubled for me to £1500 (I am 28)
Set of tyres £13-1500
I do 15k miles per year so couldn't justify the car, mileage for me is a killer.
Alloy will probably give you a better idea though. (Beat to it above)

Best thing I ever did, going contracting. Yes, contracts are harder to find in the gloomy times, but if your any good, then there's always work.
Im very risk adverse, so instead of buying more property, I paid off my mortgage . House is worth £700K+, and I know I should really take some of the equtity out of it, and buy a few flats / 2/3 bedroom houses, now whilst the market is flat, for future investments.
However, I have a several friends that have done this, 10 or so properties each, and now are having issues covering mortgages etc etc.
Anyway, back on topic, how come red ?? What other colours were there ?? Didnt fancy the Metalic blue ?

Alloy, fair play matey. I did 7 years in the city, many different investment banks, trade floors. Served my time :-), and spent many an hour getting pi55ed with a few trader friends over in Pitcher Paino :-)
Enjoy that freedom whilst you can, once you have kids, it all goes :-) haahah

Blue is too dark for my liking, if they had have stuck with bayside blue, maybe a different story. Red because it looked good!!! Yes was my first choice....
I will pay off the property I live in, the rest can be mortgaged and rented, better for taxes....
New topic - "bloody fund managers- love or hate?"

You really do come up with some amazingly arrogant statements. There was no ***** waving on this thread until this popped up!
What makes your view of what is important relevant to anyone else?
What makes you think that Alloy hasn't already got a fully funded pension, paid off mortgage etc?
You really have no idea. Alloy got it spot on - you are just trying your hardest to bolster your own insecurities.

Come on lads, I drive a 52 plate Impreza, have a wife and kids, a house to move into when i leave the RAF and all I can say is well done to the guys driving GTRs GT3s etc. You have obviously worked very hard to achieve your dreams. I only wish I could afford either, well perhaps a GTR when I get my gratuity at the end of my time.
Jealous, yes, in a malicious way, hell no.

Fund Managers ? :-) Depends if they buying :-)
I remember watching a charity auction, back in the day, and how there wasa Fait Panda ( 1996 ) being auctioned for charity. Few of fund managers were bidding for it, drink was flowing, and it eventually sold for £69K !! And it was never collected either.
Mind you, its prerry cut throat, there's always someone in the wings waiting to take over ! Ive wittnessed many a sacking on the tradefloor !

One thing that does amaze me is all the IT contractors who don't seem to twig that the real money comes from placing your friends and taking a wedge. At £150 a head per day you place ten friends and you don't need to work. Place five and you don't need to work as much!

I agree with Trout to a point, however, the type of contractor, that is stupid enough to be placed by you, whilst you take a drink out of his day rate, is obviously not too clued up and not someone I would want working with me.
I feel there are far too many contractors, all `technically certificated` but useless when on site. The good thing about the hard times, is that it filters out the rubbish, as they are go back to perminant employement.

Whilst not my core business, the RS was paid for by placing program managers and architects at a client. All the contractors knew my margin and they were happy as they had work. The client was happy as all my recommendations were quality people.
Great business. I am on vacation next week and it will be paid for when I am on the river bank catching salmon.
Something to think about
