I have the same problem with big brakes at the front, just bought some big rear brakes - AP Disc with Porsche 4 pot callipers to see if it will sort nose dive out. It did on my hawkeye so should on the saloon.

Just need to get the brackets made up.

It's very common issue that people don't appreciate. Adding bigger brakes to the front affect the brake balance as you now have far bigger piston area and pad area at the front in ratio to the rear. A lot of people think the rears don't do much but why did Subaru bother venting them. I would always have a brake bias valve put in if changing to big calipers. Even mixing pad types front to back can require a bias valve.

Quick question what is the rough cost of forging if one of these does go bang?

Is it cheaper to do before it goes pop ie to restrict additional damage caused by the 'pop'?

Almost certainly.

If it goes pop you will probably/almost certainly get debris in all the oil galleries possibly requiring new crank/crankcase/heads etc. etc......

yep, but your car may never go pop and you'll have spent money out on a 'what if' situation.

unless you want more power and upgrading.

Cheers chaps the 340r package would be more than enough assuming you can still get this through a dealer? Does the spoiler for the 4dr come from HT Autos and do you have to strengthen the boot? Does it involve drilling through the boot which sounds like an attraction for rust?

You can get one from HT Autos which would require the bootlid being drilled.

You can buy an OEM spoiler plus new bootlid (with the holes pre-drilled) plus the stronger torsion bars required to deal with the extra weight of the spoiler as a package (items not available separately from IM) which would also need painting - total cost about £1000+.

You could buy an OEM style Seibon carbon fibre spoiler, which would also need the boot lid drilling but as it's light, the original torsion bars are sufficiently strong enough to cope.

Rust would only be a problem if anti-rust precautions not taken and suitable sealing around the holes not done.

I wouldn't bother getting the 340r through a dealer , you'd be better off sourcing a quality exhaust such as h & s , I think Don went with 1 of these systems , and then get the car mapped properly rather than a generic subaru remap, I've got the 340 upgrade and I'm thinking of getting it mapped again with an independent specialist as I have heard of some running issues with the subaru map.
You'd get a better result and better value for money going independent.
As for the boot I've fitted a genuine subaru spoiler onto my original boot, I had it drilled and fitted and used plenty of wax oil in the internals and around holes, seems ok so far and no leaks, I changed the torsion bars for upgraded versions to compensate the extra weight.
As for rust I personally think this particular model is going to have rust issues quite early, I have found rust under the silver boot garnish, corners of wings where it meets bumper and I've just fitted a bonnet scoop grille and found some under there too, quite unacceptable for a 3 and half year old car

I'm on the hunt for a set of wheels , maybe prodrive GT2'S or other 18"/19", something to fill the arches better.

Is the rust a common issue on these, you are putting me off now

for the cost of the 340R pack, you could be better going to somewhere like ScoobyClinic and getting a custom package, that would be a better all round set up.

HTautos do a really nice low level spoiler that sticks on, nice and stealth looking on the car

I have had rust all over the boot and on front wings. It got sorted on warranty. Mine is now going in for rust on body where rear subframe mounts to it. Also been told under the side skirts can be an issue for rust.

Definitely have a chat with Scoobyclinic about a power upgrade.

There's a company near me called Torque GT who import the Ts RA and the S206, presumably these have the 2 litre engines and are less prone to pop or have rust?

Norman, coming back to the fold again.....

Here is the low level HT spoiler.
http://subaru-impreza-body-kits.co.u...e.html?sno=298

No rust on mine but I do keep it pretty clean and it lives in a garage?

Can highly recommend the H&S system, have the 320r on mine and very happy with that and keeping the warranty, not heard great things about the 340 pack so decided to stick with what I have, but out of warranty and if I can stop myself looking at V8 M3's I may investigate another Race Dynamic map!

And whilst I'm here, does anyone have a bike rack on their saloon? I have a Thule roof rack and could go for their kit for that but not keen on lifting 2/3 bikes up and over the roof, bikes that is that are not that light!

Not wanting to fit a tow bar either!!

Is their one of the racks that rests on the rear bumper and attaches/hooks to the edge of the boot lid so the bikes hand off the back?

Thanks Possibly returning as I am fed up of waiting for the Golf R and for half the money could build myself a nice Scoob. Love the TS RA but trying to find out the costs.

The kids and the wife have talked me into a Disco for that so at least the Scoob would stay 'clean'

Yep £42k for the s206 I guess the TS would be a little cheaper. Scary figures for a used Scoob!

VW are a mess at the moment. This is my second order as the first changed from a September delivery to February! I sold my car Saturday and need to buy something I was going to buy a run around but it could be 4 months of my life I won't get back. Thinking buy a scoob cancel the Golf and save some pennies! The R400 will be limited numbers and can't see the Civic being much different to the RS in terms of performance but does look pretty cool but both will be 12 months away!

I was reading that initially the R400 was ltd but due to the mass of interest it may change, merc commented that whatever vag produce there ready to nail it lol, the guys who made the e888 engine for vw was involved in the a45 block then got poached to work for vag

All I need is for MB to offer whatever's up their sleeve to us already owners as a upgrade and not have to trade it in which I think is a remap and new turbo, bit like what Subaru did with the 320 and 340 I know the black edition is coming but I hope it's not that cos that will be stupid money
