BBC F1 coverage cut
Funki, below plays a large part why
Exactly, a large chunk of our TV licence money will end up in the back pockets of cringeworthy presenters like Jonathon Woss and Adrian Chiles.
Just look at the silly money that Chiles is on for being a talentless, annoying little weasel, £6m over 4 years
.... comical

Well firstly so I can watch them live, secondly yes I think they will do a better job than the BBC under the new deal, but the real question is whether thay can do a better job than the BBC do now. That is a question we won't have an answer to for a while yet. A lot depends on the team they put together to present it.

I would have thought they would have mentioned it too. They certainly spoke about it, and to Bernie, a few races ago when things were first mentioned (when Bernie said F1 must stay Free to Air!).
Probably been told to stay quiet about it, or they feel embarrassed by shafting the UK viewers. Did like Brundle's comment about the dole queue though, lol.

That's what p&ssed me off. Everyone watching would wanted to hear more about it, from the horses mouths so to speak. Bernie, team bosses, driver's etc. This was the first broadcast since the news was announced. The fact that they were obviously told not to talk about it makes me think this is far from over.
Clearly though, everyone warned not to pass comment. I feel so down about this im tempted to stop watching from now on. Honestly feel cheated somehow
Yes, they were just 2 examples of how the BBC has been wasting money over the years by paying over the odds salaries to people that don't justify those huge amounts. Adrian Chiles salary was laughable, their will be loads of current ones earning very similar to what her got.

As I understand it, we won't get the full race, just highlights?
No it will be the full race delayed by a few hours. Martin Whitmarsh was interviewed yesterday and he said orginally it was the intention to show highlights of the 10 non live races, but that has now been revised to the full races probably going out on BBC2 in the evening so a delay of around 6 hours (for a European race).

If they made F1 pay per view, we'd probably have a say in which tracks were used - would you pay £15 for Valencia?
The BBC have got coverage of F1 absolutely nailed and then lose it to Sky? I wonder whether this was all the BBCs fault and it's more Bernie than the BBC.

The BBC hadnt got the money, they have had to keep the license fee frozen and take on extra expenses such as the BBC world service
They had said they were going to drop it a little while ago,but it had looked like Channel 4 might snap it up :/

Largely because Ben Gallop has said as much himself. Extended highlights only for the races not shown live; here.
Whitmarsh claimed Ecclestone confirmed "several times" that it would be the full races but when interviewed himself (mere minutes later) Ecclestone admitted that although that's what he told Whitmarsh he was pushing for for the BBC to only show highlights.
We will broadcast extended highlights for the rest of the grands prix just a few hours after the chequered flag has been waved. Sky will have live action from all races, qualifying and practice sessions.
