BBC F1 coverage cut

The BBC has announced the new TV rights deal with FOM.
The broadcasts will be shared between BBC and Sky from 2012, with the BBC only showing half the races live.
After all the talk amongst the leading lights of F1 about free-to-air broadcasts being the best for F1, it turns out that subscription TV will get the lion's share of the deal after all.

Bernie the greedy w@nker, viewing figures will plummet now!

LEUVEN 29 July 2011 07:48 AM

:mad::mad:
Hopefully something nasty happens to him.

It is time for people to vote with their eyes. There needs to be a boycott of watching it on sky if it's on sky sports

Scooby Dan 29 July 2011 08:10 AM

Sky had it a few years ago and the coverage was poor . I also seem to recall them charging £15 for each weekend .

Tidgy 29 July 2011 08:14 AM

money grabbing to88ers.

i shant be watching it on sky

Exactly my thoughts, BBC have it spot on so I cant work out why they want to change it,

Have to agree with comments above, I shan't be watching on Sky.
And as for giving even more money and media power to the scumbag Murdochs :brickwall:brickwall:brickwall

Dougmy06wrx 29 July 2011 08:41 AM

Liked,

I was just reading it in BBC news and what's the point in BBC showing some of the races, complete crap!

Should be all or nothing! I was hoping it stayed on free to view after all the talk in the last few months, but money talks to bernie!

I also read he is trying to sell his shares in qpr and has been for a few months so maybe he is feeling the credit crunch? Haha

I am so pissed off right now, you would not believe.
So I have got to over £200 a year now to have sky sports? Grrrr

Listening to Jake and it sounds to me he'll be going to sky.

Fantom 29 July 2011 09:02 AM

I think we need a blanket boycott of all f1 coverage when this happens. Its the only way to hit Bernie hard. He can't sell something that people don't watch.

markb_s1 29 July 2011 09:04 AM

what a load of crap.

I've been getting really into F1 over the last 3 or 4 years, and although I do have sky, I dont' have sky sports. not upgrading the package just for the F1. nooooo way!

Gear Head 29 July 2011 09:06 AM

I have been watching it for the 15 years. Imagine how I feel.

Gear Head 29 July 2011 09:07 AM

I seriously hope that this is reversed.
F1 has been making a very healthy profit for years. Why did they have to change it?
Bernie obviously charging way to much probably.

Ant 29 July 2011 09:11 AM

I've liked the group 890 going strong so far

Gear Head 29 July 2011 09:24 AM

Do you think it is Bernie, or the BBC that are to blame?

jura11 29 July 2011 09:25 AM

What i can say Thanks to BBC(or Bernie) we are been robbed of half of races:mad:.

Both BBC funding **** like eastenders and bernie with his greedy ways

ScoobyWon't 29 July 2011 09:29 AM

If the BBC need to cut costs, then simply get rid of everyone we don't need. Brundle and Crofty would do a fine job.

I would even go as far as watching coverage on ITV with James Allen rather than paying Sky for the privilege

Gear Head 29 July 2011 09:30 AM

£20 a month for Sky sports on top of what I pay now? You are having a farking laugh.
Can you imagine what would have happened if this was annouced before the British GP. They would have been chaos!

I really like Crofty, he is a fantastic character. I think he would clash with Brundle though as they both would want the spot light.

Could you retune your box to pick up the F1 from another country?

Chip
