Clearly the duty free's haven't been opened yet
David some magazines would pay you for this kind of 'making of' series - sugg you point a few to this site for a look, and maybe then it would help you get that Smeg Bronze welder you so yearn for

Anybody want to tell me how the **** I connect this Fuel Pressure Reg Up? There are three pipes coming from the tank I assume the one going through the Filter is the feed... are the other two both returns?? Ie one return for the reg.. and one for the rails...
How would you feed the rails... same as now or with a T piece.
Opinions??

David,
Usual connections from the tank are:
1. Feed from pump which will be through the filter
2. Return line from regulator/rail
3. Breather pipe to collection pot type thing (sorry for the technical description ) so that when you are filling up at the petrol station, the vapours pass to this pot that then feeds them back through the intake system when the engine is running.
Hope this helps

That's really cool, well done
On the reg, won't it have a feed and return and I think the little pipe at the top is a vacuum pipe isn't it... does it go to the inlet manifold... dunno if turbo cars need it though

Yeah, thats right... As evoRsx said.. the others a breather... i might have noticed if I wasnt so tired... the vacum pipe is the one at the top... it goes to the top of the throttle body... I belive its there so that the fuel pressure rises as the throttle is opened... I will need to replace this pipe....
Started making the other bits for the injector rail but my dad was helping me and he's a perfectionist.. so didnt really get much done.. as he spent more time sharpening the drill bits.... (and telling me off for making them blunt!)

Pictures...
Even my dog (Called Jack Daniels ) thinks Im mad..
Need to Make three of these... So that I dont destroy the standard rails..
Found this in the scrap box...
Dont really know what this is supposed to show...
Drilling a hole to mount the Metal Rod.. (Same procedure as before)
1 Finished Rail...
No inbetween pictures.. as they would be v similar to before...
Decided to cheat after having a brainwave whilst in machine mart... bought these airline fittings...
Drilled a hole in plate and welded fitting in..

David,
Excellent thread, well done.
Quick question: Is there any particular reason why you chose to use multiple "barbs" on your fuel rail to hose connections? IIRC, all the standard fittings and the uprated FPR fittings have one (rounded) "barb" and then a moderately large flat area on which to place the securing clamp. The way you have designed your hose connections _might_ possibly cause weakening/damage to the fuel hose when torquing down to the hose clamps. Just thought now would be the best time to mention this, before you have assembled everything.
Keep up the good work.
Regards,
Moray

I dont really know why... I suppose its because the t-piece that I bought was similar... Ill Keep a close eye on this and possibly change them... That is an interesting point which I hadn't even considered and makes sense! Suppose thats why i'm posting all this on here!

PeteT...
Nowt to worry about there empty Honest... Besides its petrol mixed with diesel... (my sister decided to run her old clio diesel with a bit of petrol...) Now it goes in the lawnmower.. (only when the neighboutrs are in the garden though.... Nice and smokey). Seriously though.. If I was doing some welding where I expected sparks to really fly then I move them.. but theres only one with owt it.. the 25ltr Drum of Cellulose thinners at the back of the garage is more of a concern.... Or wearing jeans with a rips in as this seems to make them burn better... Belive me I know..
Put it back to standard to sell it?? Nah... they can buy it like this... I just want to keep standard parts Incase I give up, or it doesnt work...
I nearly put it back together last week as I went to look at a lancia delta hf intergrale turbo or whatever... but didnt buy as it needed chassis leg, bonnet, two wings, two lights, grille, bumper, rad, intercooler, front panel.. and he wanted 1500..

Ricco unfortunatley Im really strugling now.. its getting empty... Ive no metal to do the last connector out of.. I was looking at using an old hedge cutter blade yesterday
Thats the problem with making everything out of the scrap box.. you dont end up with any scrap at the end of it!!
Just to Add the Samco Reducer turned up to day.. And some new SDS drills that I ordered... (Not that i'll need to drill concrete for this!) Ill take some photos tomorrow, time permitting (Lots of drinking to do this weekend!!)
