One thing to mention is that any quick shift is going to be harder on the synchros and shift mechanism. So if its already crunching, or dodgy, expect things to get worse. Dont move the lever too far. Not sure what yours looks like, but the sti shift has nylon bushes where the linkage pivots at the box, and at the lever. I think that some of the more expensive shifters actually have needle roller bearings in these sections, with obvious benefits. It would also be a better smoother action where the lever bolts to the linkage to the box with some sort of 'bearing' be it nwylon or needle rollers.

ANothr litlte uselss piece of info seeing someone else think about DIYing a FMIC. Have you all seen a volvo 740/760 turbo intercooler? very similar in dimension and layout to the pace item, or ford rs500. Obviously it wont be as good as either of those, but for a std car its big. So is that fitted to peugot 406 turbo and turbodiesel, although cant remember where the pipes come and go on the 406, but I think its on the sides

I Looked at the volvo one, the only problem is that it has plastic end caps, so could blow apart under high boost like r5 turbos... and it would be harder to move the pipes.
Anyway off to get changed and then into the garage for me... unless my chinese turns up..

Im just uploading a 60mb mpeg of the car and garage... then youll all feel like you are here...
Its a fcking pain taking the pics.. its my dads digital camcorder... Sony DCRPC9 or summit... anyway... Lead doesnt seem like normal usb and cant find any, so he has lead on his computer... so have to put his computer on make sure the camera is still shared out over the network... then go on my pc and copy the pics to mine and then open them in photoshop and increase the brightnes...
Anyway...
I dont really know... I just sort of guessed at what looked right... General consensus is about 20mm...

I just bought a cheapie Olypmpus C-860L about a year ago, for £150. Seems to work ok for me, although it is a bit hard on batteries.. I think there are plenty about for this sort of money, or less, which are off good quality. Well worth the money I thought. Only downside is, it isnt USB, its just serial, and I fall asleep everytime I download the pics to the computer. If you buy a camera, make sure its USB.

Ive got use of a tig if I want it
Someone in the family has a motorbike shop... can go down there on an evening and have a play... never done tig.. just gas and mig... how hard can it be So Ive bought a book as a start... Ill read that when it comes and then go down with plenty of spare metal... (Wont get them to teach me though, as you should have seen some of the stuff they did for me.. Or at least one of them cant weld!)
Also found a shop in bristol that will do a single phase ac tig for 1600 cash... so depending on how this goes I might buy one of them... Also need to get the snap on man to get his ar$e round to my house with his van... as my account was with one in wakefield and they dont list welders on the website... think they are just rebadged cebora welders though.
Got some more pics to post but they will have to wait till we get to page 16 as Andy F has complained!
