I have pulled out a section of your excellent post above and will ask the question which is begging to be asked in all honesty ...... "Why, OH, Why, is someone who would struggle to get a credit agreement better than the one offered by Subaru even considering buying such a car?" .... you are clearly an intelligent person, surely you can see that they are probably a little bit daft/stupid/mislead?

These are cars which will cost over £38,000 over 3 years just in purchase costs alone, add to that the sub 20mpg fuel costs, the Insurance costs, the Road Tax costs and Servicing costs ........ to my mind, only those who can pay cash, do not need silly Finance and have an income way above the average should even consider buying one of these beasts.
There are a few independent finance options to rival Subaru's offer. Of course there is the option of borrowing against property at a greatly reduced rate. However I'm guessing for many that's something they'd rather not do. Assuming they are still mortgaged I can only imagine their lender being none too happy lending for a car and not house related items / improvements. If they are mortgage free then I would assume they are likely to be in a position not to need to borrow so that rules that out.

M&S money lends at 6.7% typical through their car buying plan so is a better as far as APR goes. However I'm guessing one of the main reasons to sticking with dealer finance is they can set the residuals and as such if the s**t really does hit the fan with depreciation you can hand the car back once you've paid half the total rental, or at the end without penalty.

The bottom line for most people will never be the total price, purchase cost or residual value. Rather it will be the bottom line, i.e what does it cost per month? Most people nowadays see cars as a monthly expense and not an asset. If they can say drive a new STi at £xxx per month for example then that's how they view it. They can afford the monthly payment and treat it as an outgoing expense. Nothing more.

In fact I'm guessing if you worked out how much you'd pay on finance over 3 years and then how much you'd lose through depreciation in 3 years I'm guessing there wouldn't be much in it!

Oh Mr. Lewis, I wish you had worked for the banks a few years ago! The market probably wouldn't have crashed with you stopping people making silly mistakes borrowing money

Has anyone else read the Civic thread where they banned him?
I just took the time to read it and I thought it would be a bit boring.I was wrong,it's well worth a read.
It's quite funny how fast they got onto him and issued the ban hammer.

How many other forum's has he been banned from?
Is there any more gems out there?

Danny.

I don't know why you and others get so upset by him. He is just having a bit of a laugh and he always gets a reaction. If you don't like what he posts just ignore it, but it's hardly worth getting upset about.

Also for your information as you are a bit of a 'Johnny Come Lately' Pete has been here for more years than most and for 10 of them owned a classic wagon. Rightly or wrongly he decided to leave the fold and now even gets a rise out of many of you over that .... funny that.

To be oinest there are far worse posters on here and I just think if you find him annoying stop reading his posts. Simples as they say over the water!

I've started the link at page 9.
He did the same thing on the civic forum that he does here, basically saying you can't compare a civic to a scooby.

this is the first time i have come across ps lewis and after looking through some off his previous threads i need to ask the mods why is he not banned?
the civic boys banned him straight away and quite rightly.
he brings nothing to the forum at all.

He also used that name on here too for one of his other accounts. He named his Photobucket account the same thing.

I reckon all his 'fans' on here are just him with a different log in Is there any way of checking the IP addresses?

A thread about new Imprezas started by pslewis with special guest star appearance by f1_fan. What a surprise It's threads like these that make me thank the Lord for the 'ignore list'... for anyone else that finds these two pr*cks as irritating as me just use the marvellous ignore You can then live in bliss of the views of trolls and they may just **** off if they no longer have an audience.

i am in full support of this site as i use it mostly to find out technical stuff i need to help me in modding my car, i have to say that without scoobynet i would not have been able to do most of the mods myself so it has saved me a lot of money.
i therefore am a paid member to show my support but mr ps lewis is not even that and by the looks of it has nothing of any use to say and causes arguments and thats about it.
worst than that he is on other car sites slagging of other cars and claiming to be a subaru owner still, which in turn causes them to come on here spouting rubbish.
why is he not banned??
any mods willing to answer???

Sorry mate, in fairness shouldn't really have picked your quote as it is really a more general point.

Why does how many posts you have, how old you are and how long you have been a member even matter?
Welcome to the future old man- your rose tinted visions of the way thingswere....however endearing and cute to some it maybe has no impact on the posts you make and their validity.
I 100% agree with you- it is a **** offer and I think somebody would need more money than sense to buy one. However, just because this is the offer and this is scoobynet it does not mean we would all jump at the chance for one.

You seem to be proud you are old...don't get me wrong as I completely respect my elders and regularly enjoy discussing how today's world compares etc when I play snooker down the legion but I am also aware when age is a factor in any discussion.

In today's world it is the way it is- everyone trying to fleece the next, it's disgusting I know.... Also agree a standard Scooby is not the giant killer it once was and Subaru have failed to continue to raise their game....

But please....enough of this "I've been about since you were sucking your mammys *****" crap- it has no bearing on this discussion and if anything I, as a 27 year old have a greater understanding of the way the world operates in 2011 than somebody in your age bracket.

The Subaru vs whatever arguments don't bother me- doesn't affect me as I am intelligent enough to have and stick by my own opinion, the knocking Subaru for their gash deals and new attempts to get custom doesn't bother me....I would never take them up and agree they are poop....so you are welcome as a member to post whatever you feel relevant-

but let's base your arguments on your understanding and intelligence as a human being....not on how old you are/how long you have been a member or anything else that does not really make any difference.

Cheers,
Chris

pslewis. I,m sorry if i offended you by saying "over 29,000 posts get a life". I was out of order. What i do in my spare time is to play golf (4 handicap), play squash, support a local football team and also love motorsport. Oh and my subaru lol.
I do agree the STI is expensive however wouldn,t life be boring if we never treated ourselves once in a while.
Now if your saving money ie cheap car(civic diesel),not getting out much so you can leave more to your children for instance, then you need to think about inheritance tax. JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT PSLEWIS

Seriously just ignore him if you don't like it. Why get all upset over a post you consider to be nothing but trolling? Just read other posts and ignore his!

True and I do agree with that. Thing is, I did used to get riled up with some of the stuff that he came out with but in the end I gave up caring as it seems he will never get banned.
