My daughter was nearly Groomed.
Got this (K9 web-protection) on every computer (works on both Mac, PC and iphone/pod etc)
http://www1.k9webprotection.com/
Can't install anything or go to any site that isn't allowed.
Works VERY well with my 2 girls (10 & 7) - both have laptops & desktops.
Also got Apple Remote Desktop on display whenever they're on their computers (Big Brother IS watching) - they're aware that I scan all their traffic.... and this will remain the same until they leave home!!
But OP, there's a few key things here -
1. You've brought your daughter up well
(imho)
2. She knew what to do and was comfortable taking action
3. Let the Coppers/CPS do their job
I'm a (non-striking
) Lecturer in a college and we do a LOT of Safeguarding training, and whilst the content is highly distasteful at times, it does raise awareness of what can (and does) happen.
CEOP are a little bit more OTT - it's a great idea, but sometimes a sledge-hammer to crack a walnut, springs to mind.
They key to this is support where/when needed. I'm not counselling as I'm not trained (and ignorance/mis-information can do more damage than good) - but do speak to the Police IF you feel that you and your family need support with this.

Even if the lad was 17, makes NO difference (legally) at all.
If a "couple" are sharing photos of each other, and either one is under 16, they can (and do) end up on the Sex Offenders register

The amount of "kids" who don't realise this is shocking.
More shocking is the fact that the age is actually 18 unless the children are 16 or 17 and married or in an enduring family relationship.

Yes, sorry.
The guy was arrested and questioned. He said no comment to all questions asked. They have siezed his laptop and phone and has been bailed to his parents address in Sheffield. He is not allowed back on base.
So it's a case of waiting whilst both laptops are checked by the police, this could take a couple of weeks.

My three are 16 11 and 18 mnths all girls. They are not allowed out the front room when on the laptop and phones are left downstairs at bedtime
It seems a bit draconian but I don't want to be their buddy I am dad and as such am often out of favour because " my friends are allowed "
I feel for you mate if I was in your shoes I would be toolin up and getting details
