Seems I got my Olympic 100m Final Tickets after all!!!
After waiting till after the defined date set by the organisers and then hearing that over 1 Million had applied for some 40,000 tickets for the Men's 100 meter final, I had given up as these were the only tickets I applied for (2 x £725 ).
Earlier this week my account was debitted and I now have an e mail telling me I got them after all!!
Very happy,as they are the best seats you can buy, but can only treat one of my 2 sons (they both want to go). So it will be a toss of a coin to decide.
A one off that I will never get a chance to see again!

And thats before he's paid for travel, accommodation, and refreshments. So probably more like £2000.
If you can easily afford it, then who are we to say what you should or shouldn't spend your money on. Just, even if I was a Millionaire, I wouldn't spend £1450 on 2 Olympic tickets.
Rip-off Britain again.
It's hardly a once in a lifetime experience. The Olympics are every 4 years. Does it really matter what country you go to watch them in?

I think these prices are disgraceful as well as MP's and the like getting free tickets as well as all the top treatment to go with it.
As much as I would like to be there I certainly would not be prepared to pay prices like that on principle.
£145 per second to watch a race is totally unjustiable and also I feel sorry for the son who is going to lose out.
The people of this country are being taken for a ride yet again!

The 100m final isnt the only athletics event you get to see for that ticket - most are a 3hr slot And if 2012 is anything to go buy its hard enough if you live in the country to get a ticket let alone attend in another country.
I got nowt from bids on tickets for 5 events. Cant be bothered with the 1st come 1st served phase as nothing left that interests me.

you paid nearly 1500 quid for two tickets, you get to watch ten soconds of action, you have to leave one of your sons behind and your happy about all this?
The olympics is the biggest waste of money ever and it brings out the worst in people, how can you be happy about being ripped of 1500 quid and letting one of your sons down?
Go on holiday with the WHOLE family and watch it in a bar, thats the best use of 1500 quid!

I think it is now essential that I clarify about my 2 sons.
They are NOT teenage (or younger ) kids. They ar both mid 20's and working as surgeons.
It was not that I tried for these tickets with the express intention of taking one or both.
We still do go on holidays togetehr and the 3 of us are heading to Aspen ski-ing in January.
My oldest and I are going to the British GP weekend together.
I have paid big sums in the past (such as nearly £5K to drive an F1 car on circuit in Europe ) for things that I enjoy.
I am a LOT alder than most of you on Scoobynet and have worked all my life in the Upstream Oil Industry.
So can justify a splurge every now and then.

How can it be a rip off when people are happy to pay??? Welcome to the free Market, supply and demand - no one has forced anyone to pay £750 and it seems there were plenty of takers!!!!

I would disagree with you on the forced to pay issue, not much of a concern to the OP, who, by his own admission only applied for the 1 pair of tickets. What about the countless thousands, who have had to pay for tickets and they don't know which ones they've paid for? Sounds fairly forced to me.
I've said it before, there will be plenty from overseas that want to attend. Let them pay the ticket prices and boost the economy with what they'll be spending whilst here. Watch what you want to on the TV for nowt.

I 'won' all the tickets I put in for, none! Shouldn't first refusal be for all the council tax payers in London who paid for most of it?
The Olympics, what a yawnathon. World cup, that's a different matter.

I chose not to go for tickets. I can think of much better things to do with £750 than watch the Olympics. Too each their own.
Those who have tickets, will have a great time. I will spend my £750 on boots, make up, perfume, pamper day etc,
