most people in the arts are liberals, they worry about being PC more than accurately reflecting our successes in our history

What, making a film about his life and work, the second one to be made and changing one small detail, perhaps if someone explained that things have changed a bit since 1944 and that though people still appreciated his sacrifice but that is not really the done thing to name pets based on what is now a racial slur I am sure he would understand as he must have been an intelligent chap and would probably not want to cause any offence in the name of historical accuracy, even though it was perfectly normal then.

I personally wouldn't be offended but I can see why the filmmakers err on the side of caution, wouldnt stop me going to see it.

i have to agree with the american gangsta argument! for years i have also often wondered wether in comparison to the film, "white men cant jump" in relation to the skills of a white man on the basketball court, that maybe a film titled "black men cant swim" as proved at the olympics to perhaps level the racial playing field? ironically though with the name digger itself, the german subtitled edit for the film translates digger into cozzayizblakkinnit

I think the problem was Les that it was rooted in racial stereotype an got a bit embarrassing as well as being seen as outmoded, I don't think most black people would have a problem with someone "Blacking Up" same as white people wouldn't be bothered with a black person whiting up but it needs to be positive.
