Alloy, I've been meaning to ask a question about gear changing the GTR.
It seems that most of you guys drag race in manual mode, Is there any reason for this? Is it better in Manual (Paddleshift) rather than just letting the gearbox auto upshift?
Is it not a nightmare timing the shift right at the end of 1st? Over too quick?
In my car, I just leave it in S mode (Full auto) and let the box autoshift but if there is time to be had by selecting M and using the paddles then I might give it a bash. The only issue I can see is catching the end of 1st gear before it hits the limiter.
Have you tried auto vs manual on your box?

The GTR in Auto mode shifts just before you start getting into the redline, it shifts up the gears pretty quickly i assume as thats where it knows the torque band is. Modified cars are developing their peak power on the redline, so most people use manual to get those extra revs out of the engine.
Plus using manual actually gives a level of skill to drag racing lol it is boring enough as it is let alone in Auto!!!
The first to second gear change is crucial and very hard to get right, my times in AUTO are pretty much exactly consistent, my Manual times are all over the place but it is all part of the fun. TBH i think staying in Auto is the fastest as it is consistent, changing between M and Auto is going to be a small margin on your time and trap speeds IMO

What can one say, the car sold itself inside of the first three minutes of the test drive. At that point I was still a passenger!
Like Anders I'm still very early into the running in period... YAWN!

No. As I'm sure you know, the package is silly money on top of the car price. Initially I wanted the seats to give a fraction more headroom and then I fell in love with the zorst. I then gave myself a talking to and said STOP!

Having said that, I doubt anyone would go for the Nismo exhaust if they were considering modding in the future as I suspect it would be restrictive compared to other after market zorsts with wider bore.

Car goes in for the Optimisation Service tomorrow so tomorrow will be the first time I can use RRR and full revs, brakes, suspension, etc. Cant wait!!
Booked in with Robbie on the afternoon of the 30th (for ypipe, filters, cobbs - 006, front and rear cameras - ordering the kit from Brian, but need to source the front camera, interior and exterior carbon wrapping and protection detail). Should make for quite a beast!!!

I'm on 700 miles now and enjoying some decent acceleration through the gears. Not sure how much more powerful it will feel after optimisation as peak torque is around 4.5K I think and I'm taking it to 5.5-6K.
I had the parking dynamics front parking sensor fitted at Litchfields, works a treat, steady beep at about 6"
Was over at a mates on Sat and it p1ssed down during a run down some country lanes, I was surprised how much grip there was and how little torque was sent forward (mate recons 25%). I took it easy on the power around the bends though.
The new brakes feel better than the stock set up with only 200 miles on them. When I upgraded my Scoob to AP's it took them about 700 miles to fully bed in, so I'm sure the Alcons will get better yet.

Guys I have one question I'm busting to have a gtr but the only thing that really puts me off I'd the fuel, I know when your looking at a car of this magnitude fuel shouldn't come into it, but my sti is about as far as I wanna go with a guzzler and I watched senna race it on 5th gear and even he commented on how much it drank.
How much worse is it than a Subaru , for daily driving and motorway, can you get 30 out of it or are you always in the low 20s sub 20s
I'm looking for a black one but unsure,
Is the servicing also as they say expensive? I keep reading threads elsewhere and just need to know for certain if it's 1000s to service vs 100s
Thanks guys mega car and they sound so megga

on motorway can see 26mpg, clsoer to 30mpg in cruise control at 70mph
Servicing is about 350-450 every 6months, have a look on Litchfield Imports site, they have a servicing schedule posted with prices!
