I wouldn't remove the AC to be honest, you'll be surprised how much you'll miss it when it's gone - I know I have.

I've got one Simon, depends on the length of belt. You can get them from a factors or ICP for less than £10, they are only poly V belts just get the size of the belt - it should say something like 8PK875 - 8 being the amount of ribs and 875 being the length.

Simon I know from personal experience that the extra expense of a Kevlar belt is well worth it - it saved me from having another engine rebuild as a standard belt would have failed and cost me a lot more than the price of the belt.

Gates also make a Kevlar belt and it may be cheaper than the Cosworth one, I'm sure I read somewhere that Gates make it for Cosworth.

There won't be any updates for a while. I'm getting a skip delivered this week which means barrowing cr@p through the garage, so Si's engine is wrapped up and out of the way. Then it'll be a good clean of the garage and strip the heads ready for skimming. In the mean time, a shopping list is being compiled so we're not waiting for parts.

I've gone for cosworth belt,on my rebuild, that Dylan recommended that I have along with, some other upgraded parts here or there, and thankfully the engine is pulling like a train, unlike the other engine I had built,by a so called subaru specialist, which went bang after 3 months, fair play this engine is a credit to you Dylan.

Simon, I would stick with the Cosworth or Gates Racing belts as they are both have Kevlar banding running through them, as I have said a Cosworth belt saved me.

Plus if you compare the prices of a dealer supplied standard belt the Kevlar belts aren't that much more in real terms.

As Lee said an OE part would be more than adequate but the kevlar banding is real plus - I can;t find the Gates version of kevlar belt though...

just led mr deadly black hawkeye right into that one,and to be fair me also cos i was thinking exactly the same
but seriously surely any oem quality belt is up to the job as long as its made by good manufacturer,i know vaux genuine belts came stamped with another manufacturer, they've stopped doing this now but i bet they sub contract out loadsa parts to other producers prob as do subaru or any other car manufacturer most certainly the ****ty french makes,?
look at all the casting stamps on major car parts, suspension steering etc

How did it save you Ty ? What happend for it to save you fella ? I do agree that cosworth etc are the way to go on big power and track/ events cars but if an everyday average power car the oem standard belt is good enough and as long as it is built correct and new tension/ pulleys are used there should not be a problem

The way I look upon it is like this - I pay for insurance in the hope that I never need to use it, but if I do then I'm glad I've got it when needed.

Don't the windows open in a Spec C they Ty?

Plus is it worth lugging the extra weight about for the amount of "summer" we have
