Do you have any evidence to prove that?

Can't see what the fuss is about.
Not that I have seen one in my local Tesco, but I can't see why it would be so dreaful to see a man in a supermarket with no shirt/t-shirt on?? If he is fit, female beholders will appreciate the sight. If he isn't, then as well he would reserve his human right to fight the heat, come on.
In Carrib Islands, all shiny skinned, Fiddy-superfit-Cents walk about in shops in just shorts and no t-shirt, and no one gives A ****. In France, people walk about with no t-shirts and drive with no shoes on, and no one gives a hoot. If you drove here in the UK barefeet, you would be labelled as a peasant. UK enjoys a short-lived heatwave, so I can't see why men can't feel free to go around shopping without a t-shirt, as long as they don't pong. Like women go around the supermarket, picking sausages for their BBQ in their bikini tops and hotpants, men can also pick burger buns for the purpose. Moreover, how often do men get a chance to show off a hairy rouchy, beer-assisted pot belly with a patchy tan, eh? I say, go for it. As long has men keep their shorts on in public, that should suffice.
About supermarket snobbery, I went to LIDL the other day.The atmosphere was a bit remote there, with only a fistful of really old people (older than me, I mean) pushing around their trollys with their might and main. But, LIDL chicken tikka masala had more chicken bits than the Sainsbury's and Tesco one. In all honesty, I won't hesitate to shop in Co-Op and LIDL now when I can, as long as no one pinches my handbag there. Some ancient people are cleptomaniacs, I hear. I think its to do with their faculties going vavavoom.

I certainly agree with you about Lidl's and the Coop. I find Lidl's very good value and the quality of their goods is excellent. The food in M&S is also very good quality if you don't mind paying a bit more.
I find its pretty easy to keep the ancient people at bay though. You just have to keep a step ahead of them.
