Wink Tesco vs Sainsburys

To summarise:

No blokes in Sainsburys walking around shirtless when the weather is nice.

I think this:

Asda
Morrisons
Tesco
Sainsburys
Waitrose
M&S

That's in order of scummy-ness. I do think ASDA and Morrisons are interchangeable. The only reason Waitrose is below M&S is because our Waitrose in Northampton is next to an ADSA and a council estate, so that lowers it by proxy

What about Spar, Co-op, LIDL and ALDI? All below Asda?

Even Oasis sang about crappy supermarkets - remember their song "Lidl by Lidl"

ninja edit - found the lyrics:

We the people fight for our existence
We don't claim to be perfect
But we're free
We dream our dreams alone
With no resistance
Fading like the stars we wish to be

You know I didn't mean
What I just said
But my God woke up
On the wrong side of his bed
And it just don't matter now

Cos Lidl by Lidl
We gave you everything
You ever dreamed of
Lidl by Lidl
The wheels of your life
Have slowly fallen off
Lidl by Lidl
You have to give it all in all your life
And all the time I just ask myself why
You're really here

Co-op is quite OK, but more likely to be a small convenience shop round here, so not like for like with the big stores. Aldi, Netto and Lidl are Euro cheap shops. Again, not like for like with the others.

I'm a Sainsburys man......i find their prices a fair reflection of what your buying....

Even from just walking in the door any Sainsburys is fitted out better than ASDA and TESCO IMO. Their "taste the difference" uses better grade products were as TEsCO and ASDA's stuff was proven to be the same meat, from the same supplier as own brand in the product!>

For some reason that sentence does not indicate what you really mean by it without a guess.

If you mean blokes doing the shopping with no shirts then I agree completely. Looks dreadful and its pretty unpleasant if you have to go near them.

You can have either store in an area that attracts these customers - there is a big Sains nr West Reading and that attracts quite a few Asda types. Maybe they just walk around for some window shopping though

I shop probably equally in both. Tend to do bigger shops in Tesco as a) its has more variety b) clubcard points are far better than Nectar points c) a lot of the same branded stuff is often cheaper in Tesco.

Only time I go to Morrisons is if I pop out from work. This ones in Woodley and Id say at least 40% of customers are wearing tracksuits and have the whole family there (grandma, mum, daughter and grandchild) and you just know none of them have a job. Morrisons "The Best" range is far from it.

I honestly dont know what everyone raves about M&S for. Mostly full of OAPs clogging up the tills. Some of the food is very good (their cakes are always spot on) but have had a few ready meals etc and nothing special. Used to like the 2 can dine for £10 deal but Tesco and Sains do similar now and I think M&S put theirs up anyway. Would find it very hard to do a full shop their due to lack of variety.

Yeah that is what I meant.

Just seems a certain demographic shop at Tesco in preference to other places.

Walking around shirtless is just not right unless it is a beach or something

Can't see what the fuss is about.

Not that I have seen one in my local Tesco, but I can't see why it would be so dreaful to see a man in a supermarket with no shirt/t-shirt on?? If he is fit, female beholders will appreciate the sight. If he isn't, then as well he would reserve his human right to fight the heat, come on.

In Carrib Islands, all shiny skinned, Fiddy-superfit-Cents walk about in shops in just shorts and no t-shirt, and no one gives A ****. In France, people walk about with no t-shirts and drive with no shoes on, and no one gives a hoot. If you drove here in the UK barefeet, you would be labelled as a peasant. UK enjoys a short-lived heatwave, so I can't see why men can't feel free to go around shopping without a t-shirt, as long as they don't pong. Like women go around the supermarket, picking sausages for their BBQ in their bikini tops and hotpants, men can also pick burger buns for the purpose. Moreover, how often do men get a chance to show off a hairy rouchy, beer-assisted pot belly with a patchy tan, eh? I say, go for it. As long has men keep their shorts on in public, that should suffice.

About supermarket snobbery, I went to LIDL the other day.The atmosphere was a bit remote there, with only a fistful of really old people (older than me, I mean) pushing around their trollys with their might and main. But, LIDL chicken tikka masala had more chicken bits than the Sainsbury's and Tesco one. In all honesty, I won't hesitate to shop in Co-Op and LIDL now when I can, as long as no one pinches my handbag there. Some ancient people are cleptomaniacs, I hear. I think its to do with their faculties going vavavoom.
