Most unusual. Tesco stopped supplying SUL over a year ago. "Not eneough demand" Sounds like your Tesco Express uses a non standard supplier. Personally, Ive had no trouble at all with Supermarket SUL. Infact, Ive just started using Sainsburys as they seem to be really cheap.

Does anyone know about the quality of SUL from places like Sainsburies and Tescos. I have recently found that a local Tesco Express in Barnes does SUL. Don't want to use it if there are questions regarding the quality of the SUL.

Thanks Brett - I'll probably give it a go.

I was pretty doubtful myself, but the manager there assured me that it was SUL. I asked him to confirm that it wasn't the usual Tesco unleaded, or their city petrol. They were dry yesterday, but it seems like it is normal for them to stock it. I guess there must be a demand for it in the Barnes area. It is just next to Hammersmith Bridge and their are a lot of very expensive addresses there so it doesn't surprise me.

Some of the bigger petrolium firms supply the supermarkets indirectly, so you shouldnt worry too much about Super(market)UL. So i've been told anyhow..

I remember hearing a while ago that the different supermarkets put different cleaning agents into their petrol.

Is this no longer the case?

I have discussed this many times with some of my clients (oil cos and oil traders) and basically, the oil companies put various additives in and are more concerned over the consistency of quality. Supermarkets have a variety of suppliers, which also change depending on area. So if lucky, no problem, but I wouldnt rely on it for use on track days for example.
