While I can't say for sure whether or not an engine has failed because of an aftermarket VTA dump valve being fitted there are numerous threads on here (use the search) where people have reported lumpy idling, hesitancy, misfires and poor MPG that went away as soon as they changed the aftermarket VTA back to the standard recirc valve. Make of that what you will.

He didn't ask WHAT dump valve to use, he asked about LOCATING one he'd seen in a film - I think it's important to remember that
So thats what the youngsters are up to did we ever find out which one it was

I have done and do accept this fact There are certain VTA dump valves that don't cause these problems though, Simple solution would be to stay away from the ones known to cause these problems I have seen threads where spark plugs have caused the same problems you mention but they are not labeled chavvy

Yes, but you don't deliberately change the spark plugs so your car runs worse, but makes a whooshing noise on gear changes do you now?

You do need spark plugs to run an engine, you don't need a vta dump valve though do you

If someone (who has no learning difficulties) does not have enough brains to string the basics of a simple sentence together in decent English then yes they are lazy and retarded.

Even despite the obvious spelling mistakes above that sentence is actually easier to read than text speak.

A quick scan through other posts of yours and this quote above doesn't fit. (unless of course somebody else does actually type posts out for you)

As has been said, there is a big difference between somebody who has difficulties, or is just simply not great when it comes to spelling, and those too lazy to make an effort when interacting with a wide range of people. Just sitting there typing their text speak, expecting others to decipher what they are talking about, usually when they are the ones wanting help/advice.

Anyway, as I have already said, if people want to seriously discuss this, feel free to post up a thread in NSR. It is unlikely, at best, to change the rules, but I'm sure everyone can get their opinions out without keeping a thread completely off topic.

I'm sorry to say this chaps but there really are some very sad people using this forum. Have you not got anything better to do other than post pathetic bitchy comments about each other. For Christ sake guys, who gives a toss if one can spell better than another, or one doesn't like the way another types, get a bloody life.
I use this site for issues regarding my car. I come on here to learn about different things that I'm not that sure of. I ask advice from guys more experienced than myself and I also use it for the awesome 'for sale' section.
Fortunately (unlike many of you) I have a life outside my PC.

Grow up fellas, turn off your PC and get a Fu*king life.

TBH, this is the biggest problem I have with people using 'txt spk', it's actually harder for me to try and work out what the person is saying than it would be if they used or even tried to use English, if they can't be bothered to use the English language I can't be bothered trying to read what they are saying.

+1 it seems more and more of these sort of threads seem to be popping up lately going completly off topic and the original thread gets forgotton about but at the end of the day each to there own people can do what they want to there cars.

Exactly, and the reason why alot of other people do. What some people fail to grasp is that they could be missing out on valuable information and advice purely down to the fact that they can't be bothered to make an effort to be broadly understood.

Many people simply don't understand text speak (alot of the more experienced guys here are old school) or don't have the will to work out what is being 'said', and why should they? If a poster can't be bothered to make an effort to be understood, why should people, who may have a wealth of knowledge and experience, take even more time out just to try and decipher what is being asked.

Again I will labour the point, text speak and a difficulty with English are two very different things.

Personally I will only pick someone up on their spelling if they are being a smart **** i.e. it's reactionary (and yes I know I can be one too ). You are not typing in text speak and are doing your best so I have no issue with you.

Maybe I am being a little unfair picking on text speak itself. My issue is with people who are too lazy to try and type properly and hence use text speak instead.

Come on over to the thread in the Non Scooby Related section and put your point of view as I know I can come across as flippant, but it is just may way... I don't mean anything by it really and maybe I am being too black and white over the this issue. It all makes for a good discussion anyway so please contribute.

If someone takes the **** out of your spelling (and by that, poor spelling where some attempt has been made, unlike text speak) you need to either RTM the post or PM a moderator/admin to deal with it.

As I (and others have said many times) there is a difference between the two.

Anyhow, back on track, and use the link F1 has kindly posted to discuss further.

Thanks Jura , I think I get it now.

If running one of these can cause the engine to run rich , am I right in thinking it would cause misfires , ignighted fuel in the exhaust and black smoke from unburnt fuel ? Also I wouldthink you be dry bummed during the emission testing phase of an MOT.
