My cousin with a 400cc bike doesn't think he'd have a chance against my car. In fact he tried to race me once and fell off after 5 yards.

[/QUOTE]

My point exactly, he can't ride it.

But someone that can will muller you!

my v4 engined 400cc race tuned by RMD, VFR was like a scalded cat up to 165mph and regularly embarrassed much bigger engined bikes at cadwell park, and the roads around derbyshire.
Power delivery and power to weight ratio, in the right hands.

I even had my mrs on the back once playing with an r1 in the twisties around matlock and the lad couldn't believe it was only a 400 but he couldn't ride for toffee.

Yep, the WRX is the better daily driver, my modded WRX was a great car.

Sold it to a mate for £13k he has spent something like £10k on it.

And the only way it will get past my type r week end toy is after 157mph.
And the type r is not heavily tuned

You have obviously never driven a quick scoob if you think your full fat wrx is a world beater.

I think there might be a case of showboating when I come up against more powerful machines, my car looks like a totally stock 220hp WRX from the outside and I think bikes and STI's like to give me a bit of a lead before they try and embarrass me. :razz

Some lesser Fords and Vauxhalls have pushed me fairly hard as I think they are giving it everything and I'm usually a gear too high.

It's a standard STI crusher and bike beater to 30mph. I just think for certain reasons a stock WRX Blob will match a stock blob STI. This isn't something the Subaru company or STI owners would champion though.

Come pitch your slightly modded WRX against my slightly modded STI, then you'll see what's what fella.
And NO I'm not trying to prove how big my dick is, I already know I'm hung like a school boy, lol.
Sorry to burst your bubble fella, but I'm afraid a WRX against a similar specced STI wouldn't stand a chance (if it was driven properly).

Yeah I'll have a cruise up.

Wife won't let me on the strip though. She screams at me if I go 3 mph over the speed limit on the roads, hence why my races are only up to 60 on a dual carriage way

About 7 years ago i went from a 310bhp classic to a stock UK bugeye because i fancied something newer. A nice car but obviously didnt match the classic for grunt.
A freind of mine had a Blob STI, i took it for a spin one day.........When i came back i put the Bug back up for sale! If you think they are a match in the power stakes then you are deluded my friend..

Incidently, the best run i got at the Pod in the stock Bug was 14.8@95mph.... shocking!

Same driver drives both and posts a time. A real world time up to 70-80mph.

So basically what you're saying is that your car is quicker than an STI but when given the opportunity to prove it you haven't got the ***** for it?

I've told this story before but I'll say it again.

About 5 years ago I had a 1995 WRX, full tornado exhaust, large KandN filter and a baileys dump valve. Nice car, was probably around 300ish.
My best friend then went out and bought a completely standard STI V2. He fitted a full magnex exhaust, KandN and a non branded dump valve.

End result, we raced once, I sold my car.
I bought a modified GTIR and he blew his engine up at 145 (private road ofcourse).

There isnt much difference in pre 96 classic imprezas, apart from WRX wagon with the TD04 and Type RA lower gear ratios. There would of only been 15ps between your 95WRX and your mates V2 STI. They share the same turbos, injectors, intercoolers, gear ratios and FD......It was only really the ecu's which were different.

Big thanks to Dunx anyway, I went to my first drag races today and thoroughly enjoyed it! I'll be hooked in no time and also met scoobynet celeb Big Arf. He said **** gears I'll beat you in reverse. He didn't really but what a machine he's got, power delivery is so smooth and the car is so composed at stupid speeds.

I was disappointed with a lot of the Skylines, Scoobs, Evo's and Silvias compared to some rickety old vauxhalls There were a couple of bikes there too posting 12's 13's and none were as quick off the line and up to 40-50ish as the scoobs.

Fair play. I presume you mean Andy 'Specky', if so he's more in to his Tigras now. Don't be challenging him though as his Tigra is one of the quickest front drivers in th UK.

Yeah that's the fella, if I ever had a sound system with 122db he'd make sure his was 123db the next day. For years I've wanted my car quicker than his but he's always had the edge, right back from the Nova pick-up days. Must be about 14 years ago now.
