WRX STI v WRX - Traffic light king?
Not sure I'm capable of being clever Daz!
I meant that literally. Both machines seem pretty cool. The 600bhp classic speaks for itself. My cousin from Swindon races a modded Gixer 1000 at Donnington etc, etc in Thundersport GB, if you've heard of it.

My mate has an odd revving R1 rocket but he's 18 stone, should be interesting, he knows I don't want a 30-180mph challenge on the A1 but just a little blast off the lights. I'm pretty confident he's not technically good enough to meet the 2.8ish 0-60 stats given for his bike. I've launched mine at 5k with him in and he was impressed though he kept saying it feels very heavy. Another mate with a 280bhp classic said he felt mine was very fast when I took him for a spin. My cousin with a 400cc bike doesn't think he'd have a chance against my car. In fact he tried to race me once and fell off after 5 yards.
So at the end of the day ditching the air-con (and most of the safety equiptment) IS a good idea!

Well if your passanger is the combined weight of my Mrs, my two kids and my Asda trip all sat in one seat, then I would say "It feels very heavy" too
As for a 5k Launch in a 5 Speed
I planted mine into 3rd whilst moving with a moderate 340bhp, and stripped the gear!!!

The ONLY difference is that at 65,000 miles do this and your WRX will **** it's gearbox, whilst an STI won't.

I had a go against my mate's Gixer 750 in my 313/300 classic. I got absolutley destroyed. If he had an R1 then we could have measured the distance between the two in postcodes. A big fat chunky WRX would not see which way an R1 went unless the rider was pushing it at the time - Simples.
You are all forgetting that there is only one traffic light supremo on here and he doesn't drive an Impreza any more and that is pslewis.
He'll leave you for dead in his Honda oil burner, his 251 lbs ft of torque will leave you in a could of the black smoke spewing out of his cars exhaust.
One thing that I've noticed about this thread is the usual my modded WRX is faster than your standard STi, they are different cars aimed at slightly different markets.
My modified Hawkeye WRX was a far more relaxing drive than my subsequent Impreza STi's - an S202 and a Spec C but my car is a weekend toy so I'll put up with the more frantic nature of an STi. If I had an Impreza as a daily driver then I'd plump for a WRX.

Still got it undercovers....
Better than the 56bhp Chevette I had as a first car, which was "jamaica yellow" as was treated to a 12" grinning "Garfield the Cat" sticker on it's passenger door!

At that time the only modding I could afford was bodywork - sideskirts, spotlights, all quite tasteful dealer GM stuff!
