to all members of the wyioc

Think that reading it wrong is half the problem on here, people mis-understanding what others have written and taking offence to things that were meant in a totally un-offensive manner. It is a shame whats happened over the last few months. Ive made some of my best mates through the club and even ended up with a dog lol. I love my car and love driving it / breaking it / and fixing it, pretty essential with impreza ownership. Every one Ive met in the club has a lot in common, obvously people have their differences and probably always will, but I dont see why with a bit of effort on all parts the club could not go back to what it should be about.

At least now this thread is up and running, every one in the club knows what is going on,
there are some comments by others that will be noted by others.
At this point the club can start to move forward again, and take these points on board. Move forward, return to the club it once was.
As far as me renewing my membership, I am sorry, but I will not renew,
I know the van was voted,
before the van was bought there were club funds.
now the van is here, the club requires funds for the van, not the club,
I do wish the club all the best, and I will still post on here if it is ok.
I do look forward to seeing the the WYIOC ers at events.
& as as been posted, I have too met some good folk from here.
I will also take on board about the Clicky thing, and look at the way I am in the future, as Clicky is not good for anything.

Well it may have started as an "in or out" thread...
But people are getting their gripes ventilated. I too think the van was a mistake, but that's not the issue.
Hope to see you all later in the year after the re-build.

P.S. Tez do you want some thicker oil like mine ? Millers 10W60 CFS

When I first got my Scooby in August last year I posted a few things in the WYIOC section and considered paying the fees but nothing seemed to ever be happening. I actually posted to ask if the club went for runs out in the cars and after my prompt something was arranged although it was very short notice so I couldn't arrange to go. After that there was nothing.... Why? There doesn't appear to be any organisation.
As a new member I was finding it very difficult to work out what the club actually was, if events were planned, who's in the club etc etc.... This was because of the lack of structure added to the fact that the WYIOC forum is a glorified thread in Scoobynet and not a properly laid out forum.
I have also noticed that when things are arranged we only seem to see half the story in the forum. Seems like the older members who already know each other speak both on and off the forum which is no good to me who doesn't know anyone or common meeting places.
Meeting up twice a month with families at a pub is all well and good but what about the cars. Why can the club not have more events like http://www.ukscoobies.com/t3270-bbq-at-jdmchris-s and http://www.ukscoobies.com/t2764-wolf...ick-r-uks-meet . I will be honest and tell you that I very quickly stopped posting in here because of the lack of interest from others. I've been much more active on ukscoobies and have attended to a couple of events even though it has meant driving out of my way. I would much rather support my local club but it has to get better. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with families at a club meet but do they always need to be there? How about having the meet and a chat for an hour then all going for a quick blast, surely that's more fun for a car enthusiast than sitting round for hours.
The WYIOC needs a proper structure. Someone needs to be at the head of the club steering it in the right direction. At least one person needs to take control of organising events, making sure all the relevant information it posted and that lists of attendees are kept updated.
It also could do with a proper forum. Just so that things like events can be separated from everything else and club photos can be posted etc... At the moment if someone doesn't comment on an event post for a week it drops off the front page and is forgotten.
That's just my thoughts. If you want to ignore me then no worries, I'm happy with ukscoobies but if you can turn WYIOC round and structure it properly then I'll gladly put my name down and attend events.
Chris
PS I've got a P1 now, sold the Blobeye (since everyone else is adding a PS )

How about (along the un-policed Hemsworth bypasses?) a blast every sunday night, or last Sunday in the month to coincide with the cafe Thursday meet and then pop into squires/red brick to smack some bikers or maybe just have a tea?

Hi Chris,
the club is going through a rough patch, but once a few more people, like yourself, suggest activities for the members to get involved in, then it can only get better.
Was there any mention of The Rising Sun Show ( that the polishers love ) ?
I expect a bit more interest for the SSO next Sunday.
dunx
P.S. With work, and a tired engine I'm less able to be involved these days and some can't get to any weekday events due to work.
P.P.S. Links don't, just see a log-in page...

I didn't realise that the links wouldn't work if you're not signed up. They're both basically events that were organised by local traders because the club keeps good relationships with them. We get a good day out and they possibly drum up more business and let people see their setup, everyone benefits.
If we had dedicated event organisers they could speak with the likes of Richard Henry or other local traders. Build up relationships between the WYIOC and local business so that things like those mentioned can be done.
It sounded a little like I was ranting but to be fair it was the early hours of Sunday morning and I'd worked all night. Don't want people to think I am bad mouthing WYIOC, just giving suggestions as a new member to make things better and more appealing to other Subaru enthusiasts.
It's understandable that not everyone can make all events due to work commitments but if the club gains some structure and brings in new members it shouldn't matter. There should be enough interested members that even a poor turn out is a good turn out if you know what I mean.
I'm free a lot through the week and some weekends. More than happy to meet people for a quick blast, cuppa or to help you blunder through fixing something (I don't have a clue ). Door is always open

I totally agree with chris84 to some extent, i like the fact that people bring there families along to the meet's. When i used to attend my other half was pregnant, she came once to the ship inn meet. Now our little boy is here(18months) i would love to bring him along and get him into the motor's.
I think the having a blast is a good idea too, we could maybe meet somewhere, go for a drive, then come back to the pub for a chat about the club and the car's?
I did ask's deb's awhile ago about what we got bang-for-buck with the club, i was genuinely interested. However after attending the meets you start to feel as if your an out sider, i remember been there at the ship inn with my other half, there was a lady there with a lancer, everyone was taking the mick saying she was wierd. Im sure people will no who i mean, yes she was a little differant from us, but isnt everybody? I thought it was a little unfair on her, she seemed genuinely interested but it wouldnt surprise me if she has now run a mile. (which alot already have)
We need love here not bitching!
The club mechanic was ment to be jamie? I have not seen a post from him in ages? I wanted some work doing, txt him and left a post on here and got nothing?
I am alway's willing to help people out, i would bend over back-wards to get a good word for myself. Its not all about money!
I would just like to thank the people taht did make me feel welcome on the meets..... Jubby, Jamie, AJC + garyD. oh + Dunx
I would be willing to help out as i always have. Hopefully things will start to brighten up again.
Just my 2 pence worth.
wayne.

But history shows that the deal we used top get was very popular, the deal now isn't !
That's neither our fault, nor yours, but for that money I'd rather do Cadwell.
I understand the mid-week prices may be more attractive, but wouldn't suit everyone.
IMHO.
dunx
P.S. Not that mine would last a day on there anyway

That would suit me fine, me and Steve Jackson are a stones throw away from the bypass
