£189 for the Car & Stater/tool pack and fuel, I thought was a very good price so went for it!
OMG it's fast! Got in run in and went for it on the field near our house last night, really quick and handles very well, for £189 I'm chuffed to bits with it and so is my 7 year old!

The Egress has arrived
It's not quite as mint as I was hoping. Theres a few iffy bits and the marks on the top deck are from someone using CA glue to fix the ESC in place - WHY??
Theres a couple of Egress on ebay right now so am going to bid on both of them, decide which is the best of the three (if I win them) and flog the others back on ebay.
Got hold of a Vanquish shell and going to get some nice tyres for it too. Might keep but will probably sell on.
Ebay is a rip off these days though.

Truggy - I'd buy this. Hot Bodies Lightning Sport. Only 2 hours left though.

Looks unused. These are pretty big buggers in the flesh and will be bloody fast

anyone with a HPi Bullet Flux?

Just stripped and cleaned the REVO, charging the batteries and cleaned/oiled the air filter.
It's ready for a run!
Just had a flick through the manual, I forgot how comprehensive it is. It covers so much detail on running and tuning.

Agreed, although I like the noise so no brushless 1/8 for me. When your blipping the throttle and you get that F1 style thousands of RPMs noise it's just the best feeling. You just don't get that from leccy.

ok ok.... been into AccessModel in Newark on Trent this afternoon, think I'm going to go for the HPi Bullet ST Flux, 1/10th truggy.
Size of it is huge.. almost 1/8th... motor/ESC are upgradeable. and the you can go to LiPo on the battery packs.

can't go Nitro... noise and messynessof it puts me off.

Thats what i'm looking at.. but the USA version is called teh XTM Rail Buggy.
does yours come with the 2.4ghz radio set up?
Does it matter the Cage/Rail is all open to dust etc getting into the parts?
Would you say its a good buggy as on YouTube its been slated. cus the plastic bits that hold the alloy frame snap!
the wheel scan be swapped though can'tthey, so you can get some gravel wheels/tyres next time
Is it fast with that battery and how long running time do you get?

Hi, yes it comes with the 2.4ghz set up.
I need to re-look at the US version, but they're not quite the same. Similar in looksish, yes, but not identical. I got mine here in Oz.
I've got to say, it is surprising how reliable it is.
To date, the issues i have had have been a head on in to a slab of concrete ( it was actually the bottom part of a BMX start ramp. I was standing on the top of the ramp and i was bringing the car back up the ramp after going down it and over a few jumps, but i didn't notice on the way back that the gravel didn't match the start of the ramp so was effectively full pelt into the edge of the concrete which stopped the car dead!
How it still ran after that i don't know, but it did. When i finished for the day, i inspected the car and found the chassis bent up at the front with the shock tower bent back also.
A quick strip down and a couple of minutes with the chassis in the vice and all good.
Talking of stripdown, this is probably the easiest car i've stripped down to date. Very simple, the manual is very explicit and easy to understand.
Downsides to the car? As you mention about the roll cage, a couple of guys over here have snapped the plastic brace pieces but alloy versions are available. I've given mine a fair bit of abuse with some of the end over ends (and side over sides!!), but haven't broken one yet, so hell knows what the other guys are doing.
The only other issue i've had (and one other has had for a different reason) is my ESC failed. In one session, the car just stopped. When i went to retrieve, there was smoke from the ESC, so game over. I noticed the two screws were missing which hold the ESC in place (there's also double sided tape) and the ESC casing was cracked. At the moment, I've just been told i'll have a warranty replacement on the way. One other guy has fubarred his ESC but that's cause he got greedy on the power thing. I run 4S as i said before but this other chap tried to run 6S. Ran alright for a minute then, puff!, ESC gone.
IMO, the ESC is *just* capable of running a 4S battery. It's designed for a 3S, but they do say you can use a 4S, it's just that I don't think there's any comfort zone if you run the 4s whereas 3S should allow the ESC to run forever.
As for me, i'll continue to run 4S when i get the new ESC, but i've already ordered another motor/ESC combo which will handle 6S.
I live in a country which is renowned for being erm.. warm salsa , so most of my circuits are dusty. So much so, that sometimes you can't even see the car for the dust! lol, so yep, no problem with the cage being open.
Yes, the wheels can be swapped. These ones are known as desert tyres, i need gravel. There is a cure though and that is my right finger. Donuts and slides are just too easy with this animal.
It's faster than my 1/5th scale model. On average it'll do near enough 100km/h. I wish i had decent internet here to be able to upload some footage to let you see what i mean. It's a bit of an eye opener. The 5300mAh battery lasts around 20-25 minutes with pretty much full on attack for that duration, so decent enough. I've got two of them here (cost $90 each). Two's enough for most sessions you'll be running in a day imo.

You probably already know now, but with Li-Po, once you're car stops when battery runs out, don't run it again until it's re-charged.
If you've bought a decent car, the ESC will have a safety cut out when the voltage drops to around 3.3V per cell. Running the batteries right down, ruins the battery, they're not like Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd's.
If you're not aware, Li-Po's are 3.7V per cell (1S). If you've got a 3s, that's 3.7Vx3=11.1V 4S is 14.8V (4x3.7V) and so on.
Some ESC's can run3, 4 or even 6S batteries. Once you're on 4S batteries, you'll need an ESC capable of 120A continuous imo minimum.
Also, get yourself a balance charger, so that all cells in the battery(s) are charged evenly.
It sounds like a little bit of grief, but i assure you it isn't, once you're up to speed on the latest technology
As for what to buy or what type to buy, look at where you'll run the thing for the most part. In my circumstance, it's BMX circuits and grass, so buggy was the way to go. It handles really well too, but then again, mine ain't standard now. The 1/5th scale monster truck is good fun, don't get me wrong, but it's cumbersome in comparison and doesn't really like turning much, so you use the throttle and brake to do quick turns. (If you've watched monster truck shows and seen how they turn (understeer) you'll get the idea.

yep, working out where i want to use it, I've thought go more bigger tyre.. ie: the flux bullet.
the other thing is.. once you buy batteries, chargers it all adds up.
going XTM Rail route.. add the extra I'll be upto £400 easily.
HPi Bullet St FLUX... with the bits I can buy just over the cost of the 'base' XTM Rail.
and the guys in the shop say the Flux will run fine on the NiCds, fast and good running time, the if i want more speed they say go LiPo. But buy a charger that takes both battery types.
Going to see some racing tomorrow, so will see what ppl run and how they get on.

A battery charger like this one will be more than capable for different battery types. It's what I use for all of mine. It isn't the exact model but these asian built chargers tend only to be different on the outer casing for the bling factor. I paid $70 for mine, so this is a good price.
I know what you mean by "it all adds up", but then again, they tend to be one offs. If you buy a car which tends to break fairly often, then you'll soon rattle up costs in spare parts over something which can take a bit of abuse.
IMO, you'll soon get bored of Ni-Cd/Ni-mH batteries and want the greater speed and punch offered by the Li-Po's. It's their greater discharge current which has allowed electric cars to match and exceed a lot of "gas" buggies in recent times. Not to mention that with the electric cars you can drive in reverse and programme the ESC etc etc...)
Re:bigger tyre. Bear in mind what i said above, but also look into cost of replacement tyres/wheels. For mine, i can get a pair of gravel wheels/tyres, whilst not the prettiest of the bunch, only cost $25/pair (£16). The standard wheels/tyres for my BL Cage are $37/pair (£24)

Good spot Granby.
Mine has 240V as well as 12V, so can charge either at home or out "on the field" as they say, though charge times are quite long if you use the balance part of the charger all the time.

Lipo's mostly seem quite expensive. Haven't researched them enough to make a decision on which to buy. I've got 3 cars right now but no means to actually drive them. I want a particular transmitter but hard to find a mint KO Propo Esprit.
Missed out on another Egress tonight. Mines OK but it's been used and I want a shelf queen. Got to £240 and I bailed. Guy who won it was the guy I outbid for mine
Another buggy I really want to get is a Yokomo Dogfighter. I had a Works 93 and never used it. Made a terrible mistake and swapped it for a Schumacher Bosscat.
Yokomo were a bit odd with the Dogs because when they went from the YZ10 to the Works variants you'd almost not be sure which one you'd get. The suspension towers and other little items seemed to change from box to box. My '93 and all the '92 stuff in the box too.
Good ones are VERY hard to find. Theres a variant on ebay now but its obviously been in a shed for the last 10 years and all the metal is rusted to heck. Not too much of an issue but parts are so hard to find.

I'm not going but I know Steve Guppy from when I used to race at Swansea RC.
Looks an awesome track. Even if I was still racing I probably wouldn't go. I was never very good and only did it out of love of racing.

My recommendation for those of you that are bashing with lipo's, is to get yourself a lipo alarm.
It makes a damm racket when you reach it's minimal safe voltage.
Only costs a couple of quid, but will save your cells from over discharging.
