Most speed controllers have that built in called the LVC (low voltage cut-off) around 3.3v is commonly used

Ian,

So does the one in my heli, but the lipo alarm, kicks in before losing the speedo, or a drop to 50% power via the reciever.

My buggy is only raced, therefore the cut-off never comes into play.

The speedo cut-offs are right on the limit, if they are not adjustable.
Plus at 3.3v the radio gear has no power to the steering servo, the speedo shuts down and you have an uncontrolled missile

The good thing with lipo alarms, is that they are both visual and audible.

If you have a heli then yeah a alarm would also help, don't want any uncontrolled missiles

The 3.3v is for each cell so you still have enough power for servo's etc, mines set at 3.3v and i still have full control of steering when it cuts in

Doh, sort the maths out
I race 4cell or 1s 12th and 6cell or 2s 10th buggies, with the helis at 2&3s.

Yeah you be alright for radio, the real issue is that many people who venture into rc stuff, buy the latest and greatest.
Lipo's are a serious fire hazard compared to Nicads and Nimhs, just have a look on You Tube.

A lot of the lipos issues are people charging them wrong, as long as you treat them properly and don't charge them as silly rates or wrong settings then they ain't any worse than other batteries IMHO

Shouldn't need one whilst charging, just charge on a fire retardent surface.

Ideal for transport though.

is it really worth paying out the £9.99?

These are very cool. Wish Tamiya would do a decent bodyshell for the DB01 chassis. Been watching a DB01R kit on ebay.

Every little helps, if you bought either of the 2 cars you listed you would get back £12 in credit, but its up to you if you don't think its worth it don't bother

Quick question guys.

I can't find anywhere in the UK that sells a replacement aerial for my old futaba Attack R Transmitter.

Any ideas?

I sooo want one of these babies for my shelf.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tamiya-Taisan-...5#ht_500wt_922

I was in my garage yesterday and found my hpi porsche body, brand new in box not touched yet. Must get it painted up but can't decide what colour to go

http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.ph...102075&lang=en

I'm swaying towards the green? Has all the decals so you can choose to do any of the styles.

Hopefully going to get one of these later today

Theres old slate quarries round here that would suit a crawler and might even take it to one of the local beaches for some rock pool crawling.

But IT HAS to have a Jeep Cherokee shell fitted. Check the little gun!

Mine will be green like my 1:1 Cherokee

There is! Some of the scale crawlers look so realistic - but prices are like 1800Euros

I didn't win the the CR01 by £2 I will get one but also bidding on an Optima which should provide most parts to finish my restoration project.

I don't have anything to actually drive any of my cars so am going to get ESC, batteries and transmitter. Going to have to learn all about lipo and brushless.

I have 3 tamiya manta rays the 7.2v last 5minute battery ones like yu had 25yrs ago ;
I had one from when I was a kid (black one in pic) and my two boys found it and I have since bought two more for parts. The silver one has since been stripped for parts to feed the black one.

Ahh looks like i joined the party late.

Salsa, have you looked into the Hyper ST Pro?

It's a Truggy, so would suit on/off road use. Should be able to get a decent used one for the money you're looking to spend.

These are our Hyper 7's. We tried really hard to break them that day lol.

Bit of racing...

For me, the sound of the Nitro makes it fun. Im not sure I'd enjoy it as much if I went brushless.
