I always wanted a Manta Ray, my mate had a highly modded Top Force Evolution - it was stupidly quick. That's scoobs very nice!
The Technigolds are getting good money in used condition, they seem to have dried up lately too so it might be the right time to sell them 1 at a time think the last new one I saw that came up went for around £150, used where fetching anything from around £30 up.

the scoob was a £40 buy it now just before xmas last year-was lucky there as it came with 3 decent batts too.
The manta ray cost a fair bit more to do as it was about 15 years ago and all new parts-spec (that i can remember lol) 17 turn single motor, ali motor mount, geared to suit, lsd front and rear, one way centre diff, stainless prop, ali bodied shocks, anti roll bars adjustable front and rear, titanium turnbuckles, ali hubs, all suspension arms ball and socket for slop free running, bearings everywhere including steering(arms were drilled and reamed to suit) and a ripmax esc with adjustable amp draw.
Only ever took it to one club local to me(Llandow airfield) where me and the car were made to feel nice and welcome by the 10th scale nitro cars but due to the track being very twisty and me running low gearing(ish) and decent tarmac tyres on 2.2in rims I was passing most of them easily.
Was then told that I could only join them if I paid a years membership upfront
Tend to just take them for a blast on my lonesome since when I've not got the weather to fly
Cheers richie

We seem to have hi-jacked Salsa Kings thread here with a vintage RC thread, sorry mate nice to know how many old cars are still out there though just off this forum.
I think as mentioned before, it's all down to personal choice, between the 1/8th buggies and trucks, I like the buggies as I had one a few years back but sold it cos it was a pain to run, the Hyper is so much easier to run. The deciding factor for me was I could get a decent entry level buggy for around £100 cheaper than a truck/truggie at the time. It's also worth thinking about the new brushless 1/8th's that are becoming pretty affordable now. They are rapid and once you have the batteries and charger won't work out much more expensive than a nitro after a few bottles of fuel. Ansman do some pretty affordable brushless models. Do a search on YouTube, plenty of vids on there to show you what the different models are capable of. Also worth looking for reviews on the net, some engines can be a real pain to set up and keep in tune and that can take a lot of the fun out of it if your messing around fine tuning everytime you run the car.
Ayde.

its the battery thing though.. charging up and only running ofr 20mins ish.
least with fuel you can top up and go.
being thick.
whats the difference over a Buggy, truggy, truck?
are they all the same chassis with different bodies?
is there any make avoid?
are there better makes to look at?

Another one I've got is a 1/36 scale losi micro desert truck. Proper little full function rc car, it's tiny and great indoors. I bought it 'for my son' it does sit on daddies shelf lol.
It comes with a battery pack that you stick a load of AA cells in, you plug it into that and charges the battery on the truck. So you can take it anywhere and recharge etc. Great fun and really fast.
You can get all the hop ups for them too.

Buggies are lower off road, erm......buggies
Trucks are taller with better ground clearance.
Truggies are a cross between the two.

Thanks, i've just been reading up on them and watching a few youtube videos. It's exactly what i'm after, something that is small and can be used in doors but still quality. Might have to get a wall charger pack for it though as could see it getting expensive with batteries?
I also like the rally car one but being 4wd surely it must eat the batteries quicker and thereofre not run too long?

The rally one is 1/24 but prob still small as it's car rather than truck scale.
They do some smart upgrades, I'd probably go for the better battery. I did consider better motor etc but indoors it's more than fast enough stock.
It did fit the bill exactly for what I was after too, there isn't many full function micro rc cars about. Even if you find one it's normally the disposable type. At least with these you can upgrade them, swap motors, change batteries, suspension etc. They even use dinky little mini R clips holding the body shell on like the 1/10 scale stuff

I'm sold on one of these now

It comes with rechargeable battery and wall charger plus has oil filled shocks lol. Looks like only thing i'd upgrade is to a lipo battery if they make a big difference?
The wife isn't being convinced it's for my 6 year old
