Oh and one more thing. I happen to think running a red light ESPECIALLY on a pushbike is a damn sight more stupid and dangerous than doing 35 in a 30 in a car in most cases so your comparison does not really stack up.
We are all road users and we should all do our best to ride/drive sensibly. Proceeding through a light when it is red is clealry the action of a bell end no matter what vehicle he/she is controlling!!!
Subsequently trying to deny it to an officer of the law is twice as bad especially when you can only do it as you know full well you can get away with it because you don't have to pay a bean or have one shred of paperwork to use the public highway.

Why? I drive a fair bit and I see more than a few drivers acting like ***** and would be very happy to see them brought to account. I also see a fair number of cyclists doing the same and feel the same way. The trouble with most cyclists is they have a persecuation complex and always say it's only a minority that behave that way like that is some form of justification for their actions. Yes it is a minority, but that does not make it right.

I wasn't trying to offer a like for like situation as clearly it's difficult to find one verbatim. It is possible though to see parallels in this example and the many others that appear on this forum and others.
I'll stand by my original post and suggest that if this was a performance car driver arguing with a copper, filmed by themselves or another for the same offense or similar, then a large amount of people would be wetting themselves to congratulate the person.
It's all very Jeremy Clarkson really. Hate cyclists they never obey any traffic law. They should be shot etc etc. However as I drive a fast car I don't want the same traffic law to apply to me
I actually think the cyclist should take it on the chin, like we all should if we mess up. I just found it funny that had it been a driver things might be different. And with that I'm saying no more

Wow! There is sooooooooooo much anger here against cyclists!
I'm with the cyclist and AGAINST the police. They already have far too much power which they DO misuse. I have been on the receiving end of lies, partial truths, threats and such myself, and have VERY little time for the UK police tbh!
And before anyone says, "ah yes, but you'd run to them if you needed to!". No I wouldn't, I've been let down too many times. DIY is the name of the game now

I cycle to work on a daily basis and I think if the cyclist ran a red light the copper should have thrown the book at him. I can regularly be heard hailing abuse at cyclist who run red lights and ride on the pavements, because as a cyclist who rides on the road and adheres to the highway code I then get th wrath of the car/van/bus/lorry drivers who cannot direct it those who have broken the law because they are long gone

Good to see that you ride your bike correctly though.
