Yes I use the shell helix ultra 5w40 fully synth, I have no issues on either one of my scoobs
What the 5w30 fully synth? think it was discussed a fair bit on here, if you want the bit about the 5w30 on a classic then you need to find someone with a manual, cant remember what page its on but talks about cold weather and not over revving the engine.
Tony
Which part is the bad part then - the 30 or the 5? I've just filled my STi classic with full 5W40
the Gulf competition is about £40 delivered from Opie. It's an ester based synthetic and £40 for 5 litres is a pretty good price. In a country like this I would have thought 5W-40 would be the go. Australia, where I'm from, doesn't get cool enough often enough to use a 5W so people generally use 10W

10w-50 titan race pro s (silkolene) fully systhetic in my05sti mapped to 340/350 is what I am running
as I was told these engines run better tight and 5w-anything is to thin
(I feel a can of worms may be opening)

10-50 is ok but i think a 5-40 is better in colder countrys like ours. Also better for short trips and quick warm up. I also use Fuch titan race pro s but a 5-40. If i lived in spain id use the 10-50.
I have been told by a mechanic at Subaru that the best oil to use s Shell Helix semi synth. Just thought Id mention that if it helps.
I was told by a main dealer that I had to use fully synthetic for an 06/07 Hawkeye sti. He couldn't confirm what grade though. I assume from what people say above it is 5w 30.
I recently spoke to some specialists and they also recommended Millers, but 5w40. £55 for 5 litres, ordered over the phone (from Alyn at asperformance.com who was very helpful) and delivered next day So this is what I'm now using.
