I don't know how they do it
Oh wait, actually I do.....
Pierce foil lid and microwave for 6 minutes etc etc
Yesterday I bought....
Butchers - £13....
2x lemon/pepper chicken breasts
5x lamb spicy/minty kebabs
500g lean steak mince
2x pork chops
6 rashers dry-cured smoked bacon (proper stuff )
Asda - £45.....
Milk (8pts), bread, butter, cheese, brocolli, cauliflour, carrots, sprouts, green beans, mushrooms, peppers, celery, lettuce, cucumber, sausages, tinned tomatoes, red kidney beans, cat litter, toilet rolls (32), 4x packs of 4 burgers (Extra Special ones reduced from £3 a pack to £1, for freezing), frozen haddock in batter, and a few other things I can't remember.
That's enough for 7 breakfasts, 3-4 lunches (don't always), and 7 dinners, for all four of us. The 7wo only has milk anyway, and the 3yo has a bit cut off our main item with some veg.

Seriously though, aren't I the ideal man ? I do the weekly shop, I cook it all, usually wash up after, and take over her abandonment of the clothes washing, and look after our 3yo most of the time, clean & maintain both cars, do many of the other jobs around the house, and never ask for sex as that would just be futile in our house anyway. Actually, I am not a man at all, I am a f**king doormat

I think I love you Corradoboy!
........as long as you'd let me watch 'star in a reasonably priced car'. And wouldn't get offended when I dream about Jezza, Capt Slow and the Hamster.......
Stilover.............I did! It was a part-time stop-gap for 4 years, but I've gone back to my 'proper job' now. Checkout work is something I NEVER want to do again!

On-line shopping is fantastic Costs £6 for a Saturday morning delivery, but I've found out something that nobody seems to realise:
You spend much, much less. Our shopping couldnt be delivered due to the snow for a few weeks and it was £95-100 when dragging our asses round Tesco. On-line its £65-70 due to the lack of temptation.
Its also much better for your health.

As many others have mentioned on-line shopping is the way forward. There was a time with Tesco that you could normally find a voucher on-line for between £5 & £10 off thus meaning you actually came away in profit for having it delivered. Unfortunately they seem to have closed that loophole.
Weekday delivery between 8-10pm usually only costs around £4 so well worth it.
If we do have to do actual shopping I'd far rather go it alone. The missus doesn't seem to be able to grasp the concept of a meal plan for the week so just comes home with all sorts of random cr*p that I have to try to work with. Whilst I'm not afraid of the odd Masterchef style invention challenge it does get a bit boring after a while. She also takes ages. For me I treat it like a well planned military operation, got it all listed, go in, get all the stuff I need, avoid looking at the tempting but bad stuff, get out and go home. Cook dinner and pour myself a glass of wine to ease away the stress of it all

Online for us also. It may cost about £200 per annum in delivery costs but the saving on time, fuel, dent removal and bumper resprays from inconsiderate drivers in the car parks makes up for it

I've never understood why pensioners are in the supermarkets at the weekends, evenings, etc.
If I didn't have to work I'd definitely make the effort to go shopping when it's quiet
I also think that if people insist on bringing their kids to the supermarket (especially at busy times) then they should be forced to check them into some sort of play room or similar and only allowed to collect them on their way out Better still, Mum or Dad stay at home with the little darling while other half does the shopping

I generally dont do the food shop, it turns up in a van and we put it all away, I do however like what I call a "Freestyle" shop, i.e. very little in the way of a list but a good selection of ready meals, wine, beer, crisps, chocolates, magazines and whtever else takes my fancy, that can be quite cathartic and bloody expensive if hungry.
We were on Asda's deliveries but they went crap, so we went up a couple of divisions to Waitrose and they ae really good, dont seem that expensive, especially if you get a late slot, its only a quid to get it delivered, probably cheaper than the petrol, time and resultant bill from dent master to repair your bodywork from leaving the car in a car park.
Go to see the local butcher as well, meat is way better, reckon we spend best part of £150 - £200 a week for five of us, well thats the budget, the kids eat for England.

What amazes me about the 10 loaves of bread people is where the hell do they store it all? We buy a loaf and it can be off by the end of the week!
Do these people just have a house full of freezer units or what? Surely the cost of the leccy to keep it fresh must offset the buy in bulk!

The males that shop are usually the same males that push babies around the street in prams.

Worst chore of all, its the families with screaming kids that get me. Perhaps its sad, but I try to go on a Fri or Sat evening when its quieter. i dont understand these folks that wait all week then all descend on a Sat or Sun, maw, paw and 2 little brats running about - he is indecisive and doenst want to be there, she stops to read and weight up everything - surely its easier for one to remain at home looking after the kids?
Plus people stop, read every fooking label then pick up the first one again to buy and do thsi at every counter - fact is the layout of teh shop doesnt fundamentally change every wk and I bet most people buy the same products and brands every wk too - so why try dragging it out and making it more difficult than it needs?
