Take it to the IBM store. The same geniuses that jump on Apple threads and decry them a waste of money will gladly assist you.

Try Virtual Box it's free and works very well. I use it for Win 7, XP and Ubuntu server and desktop, sometimes all at once.

It is brilliant, make sure you install the Guest Additions, improves graphics and seamless support amongst other things, you should be able to find them on a network drive.

I was having problems with getting it to run full screen on my 27" screen but I thought I would try the guest additions options that i found and voila! I now have full screen vista, amazed!

Whilst it's fresh take a snap shot. It's Windows so in a few hours it'll be full of crap and choking on Malware, with the snap shot you can always roll back.

I have myself a nice PC for next to nothing, windows 7 seems to be much better than vista and all is running great. I think there may be something magic about these windows 7 discs if they have even the slightest spec of dirt on them they fail to install.
