Wow, well done. If I bought a PC made by Microsoft that was as locked down and propriety as Mac stuff, that would run without issue for x years too.
When you consider what Windows has to work with, it's a miracle it works at all. OSX, iOS, it's a piece of p1ss, it's all enclosed.
What slows down Windows machines is all the tat that inexperienced people put on them. You just can't put it on a Mac because it's niche, so few people wish to develop for it.
My last Windows machine lasted 8 years. Considering the way I mistreated it in terms of what went on and how little maintenance I was prepared to do, it should have got a medal! And it didn't cost me a grand...........
I know you will just call me an Apple hater, or bitter, but I am neither. I hate or love MS as much as I do Apple, they are as bad/good as each other, but at least I admit their shortcomings, not claim one of them is the second coming

No they're just another tool for doing the same job as your beloved Apple Mac. As I own both I am quite happy to say they both do a good job albeit differently.
Being a photographer I am always wary of any photographer that telle me Canon is the best and Nikon are crap or Nikon are the best and Canon are crap as neither of them are crap, both make great cameras and I always think that person is trying to make it all about the equipment which usually means they have no clue how to use what they own.
I think the same corollary can be drawn here!!!

I went to a meeting the other day and my colleague sat down and proceeded to literally build a "PC" in front of my eyes
out came the tablet device (android i think), then a little stand thingy, then and external bluetooth keyboard, followed by USB drive and finally speakers
oh and a usb mouse
and proceeded to sit there like he is in some Terminator movie
meanwhile I had open my laptop and pressed the power button
i mean wtf is that all about - he just looked like a ****
all this banter is like arguing over the colour of a screwdriver (I always use red ones btw, any other colour is for ar$eholes)

Just to balance the playing field somewhat.
Got a mid 2009 macbook pro given to me free (dont ask ). Internal drive was fooked so took this opportunity to replace it with an SSD drive.
Got the drive installed and cloned. Wouldnt boot
Tried it again with a fresh install, still no joy
This time did it again but had the drive attached via SATA to USB cable. Worked a treat, only problem is the drive is now sitting outside the laptop
2 am in the morning, i thought **** it and sent it off to our apple repair guys. Apparently it is a £20 HD/IR cable causing the issue and a common problem.
Oh well at least the laptop was free. Should keep me going for at least another 3-4 years

Why delusional? 10 Billion App downloads is quite an achievement. I don't think it was that long ago that iTunes sold 10 Billion tracks.
And yes, I do find it hilarious that so many people hate positive comments about Apple.

If you want info on the ARM v Intel issue then just google it, it makes for good reading but ARM chips are prodominately a mobile device chip (ie smart phones).
And sorry, I need to really rub this bit in
let me respond to Huang's words with a resounding "Duh." I fully expect Apple to move the rest of the MacBook line towards the Air: lighter, thinner and with SSDs, because ... well, what else would it do? Thicker, heavier and with the same drives that we had in 2008? Of course Apple is going to move in that direction

I dont need to say any more Jack, Apple are not top of the pile, people like the mac because of the name, you can get a better spec of laptop for 200+ quid less than a mac, now also dont come out with the "macs dont get viruses argument" (i can see that coming
), thats because no one could be arsed to write viruses for macs, its coming (if its not already here, trojans seem to be quite a bit of hassle for mac owners now ) so lack of anti virus software (or just plain arrogance by mac owners) means it will hurt more.Apple are not the greatest, they are lagging behind, especially with the imac, god 2014 before they have SSD drives in their top laptop, how behind are they?! 4 years after the first none apple laptops, great developement

although its my Job to install Bill Gates dogfood, and i do know Windows is still used by 80% of the world, like it or not they own the majority of desktop and server backends. there is one thing they never got right and its the phone.
The iphone is still the best if you want smart phones, and the app store made it great too
The other bollocks that are out WM 7 Andriod **** all try to do what apple do but never get close. and believe me ive been given so many phones to test ****berrys Wm6 Wm7 all functional but side by side with Apples no where near.
BUT Laptops Macbooks look nice the fanboys will say more stable, Maybe its kinda Linux but if u wanna play games then windows sorry, Tiger or leopard or elephant whatever its on has about 10% games support my brother loves macs, but he does DJing apart from that ****E, if i got 1 id flatten the bast and pop win 7 on id then have a Pimp windows lappy.
As for App store for Macs not too sure, maybe good but u have steam for games, and most of the apps out are IPHONE and IPAD one that utilize the device, cant touch a macbook screen can i to play the piano :P
What i am waiting for is ITUNES subscription , ive got ZUNE thats ok ive tried spoify thats not too bad although i cant strip DRM from spotify

Apple make lovely devices and as you all see the Virus boys are seeing that, Take heed boys and get ya software on
