Default Apple have done it again!

From today users of Apple computers have access to the Mac App store, very similar to the iPhone and iPad app store you can now download and update free and paid applications to your Mac from a single location.

It may seem minor, but let me assure you this will revolutionise desktop computing, others will once again have to follow.

Automatic Update Mart. It's up and running now and I've downloaded my first app, worked beautifully. Also found my installed apps and is now looking after updates for them.

Didn't take long for the Anti crowd to arrive did it! Funny thing is you'll benefit from Apple's hard work in the long run.

Not even close, the chrome app store is for apps within a Browser, the Mac app store is for Desktop applications like Chrome.

Looks like I wil dust off the 27" iMac tomorrow and see what all the fuss is about...been using an xp computer today and had to roll it back with restore because of all the crap that got installed when I downloaded a few programs off download.com. I ended up with crap toolbars and shortcuts appearing on my desktop, are these apps vetted and crap/junk free?

Is that the one with the App for making actual voice calls?

It changes everything, again. Apparently.

I think it should stay here, it concerns every user of Scoobynet. Whether you know it or not it will change the way you purchase software, that includes you Windows users as well.

How is it not a revolution? Never before have desktop computer users been offered this service, no more virus infected, toolbar installing, unsupported, dodgy website uncertainty when it comes to using software on your computer.

As for the Browser being the place for Applications, you are so far off the mark you may as well be on a different planet. Look at what Apple has done to the Mobile market, have you not noticed the incredible revenue generated selling apps in the Marketplace, Android, iOS and WP7? All that good stuff is now heading to the desktop.

Don't believe me, well time will tell, as you're probably aware I haven't been proved wrong yet and I'm not wrong now.

It's the first time any Operating System has had this feature. Other's will follow and we'll all benefit, it's nothing but good news.

Ah I stand corrected:

Wow a nanny state online software shop... how cool is that?

That's better!

For 99% of users it's very cool. I can't see a problem with tested software that's always up to date and available for download onto any machine I'm using.

That's the past, welcome to the future. The managed desktop application.
