Windows has Add/Remove programs, Windows components but it's not the same.

The Mac App store will make money and all I had to do to spend some was login.

F1 don't poop your pants, it's just an example, a bit like running Crysis.

Thank you Apple for doing it right again. I just got home, updated my iMac, ran the App store, downloaded the software I'd purchased on my Laptop to my desktop for free and can now play Angry Birds on the big screen. Thats how it should be done, I hope the others follow.

Why Gaz? Apple have changed the application marketplace for the benefit of users and developers and for that I applaud them, in what way is that deluded or are you just another Apple hating sheep?

I don't hate Apple at all. But you cannot see through Apple's Haze. You're a prime example of an "Apple fanboy".

I don't have AppleTV, because there are better media players out there, so i got one. I don't have an iPhone because there are better smartphones, so i got that instead. I don't have an iPad, because i have a PC and a smartphone and hence no use for a useless gadget. I don't have an iPod, because i can play music on my phone, which i rarely do. I don't have a mac, because i'm a developer and my clients use windows, so i have a need for windows-based applications.

Just because i don't have Apple products does not make me a hater, i like some of they're products. I just don't like the people that get the Apple products and think they're the best there is, without knowing. They are the people often referred to as sheep. You are said person.

Gaz, for one how can you even start to comment on my user experience with Apple products when by your own admission you don't own one?

Secondly, what's wrong with applauding something that's good? Something that delivers on promises?

You might not hate Apple at all, but you sound bitter. A bit like the Snowboarder who can't stand Skiers, or visa versa.

It may be the fact (in this thread alone) you state "Apple have done it again!" and "this will revolutionise desktop computing" when in fact Apple are behind about 4 years, you even said that you never knew Ubuntu (for one example) have been doing this for years, for free.

You have also stated that Apps are the future and are a big fan of them. So why are you not using Ubuntu or some other Nix which is 100 times better? You can even skin it to look and act like OSX.

Even most decent media tanks beat Apple TV hands down on Apps and on everything else they offer.

So when Gaz referred you to a sheep, then imo, you will have to accept that, on the basis that you self admit you do not know what else is out there, thinking Apple were the first to offer this service, is just one of them.

Oh and Angry Birds, your benchmark, has been ported over now.

You contradict yourself too much to take seriously, but hey, I've got time to reply.

I do use Ubuntu, one LAMP server, one USB key. It's great and yes it does have a repository of applications, but it's not a store. Now if you think Ubuntu is 100 times better as a Live CD - before you spend a month configuring it - then that's your choice, I'm fine with that, why not tell us something positive about your experience, it might make you feel good.

How you got the idea I don't know what's out there is beyond me, I run Windows 7, Windows XP in a few guises, Ubuntu and of course OSX and iOS, the last two are the best, 1000 times better in fact as they came with a free computer.

Oh dear, this is getting really embarrassing for you JackClark. These people clearly know more about tech than you. I know you wont give up with your poor childish responses -

Why embarrassing Bearo? Isn't this a discussion forum? Are you one of these people who know more about 'tech' than me? Not hard as I'm an old man.

I asked the question, what do you think of Ubuntu AppGet...

Well it's only the world’s largest software repository, I suppose.

I still have no idea what you mean by AppGet. Angry Birds was and probably still is the top grossing application in the App Store that's available on other platforms, it was an easy choice.

I've just bought Aperture from the store, £45 and I can install it on any Mac I use by logging in, that's a steal.

I'm not going to look but at a guess I'd say that's a '100% Better' alternative to Aperture. I'll file that next to Gimp, Open Office and some random iTunes alternative.

Just realised my iMac is Five this month, Five years old and still in perfect running order, only thing it doesn't do is play games from Steam. Aperture is taking a good while updating my library, but I'm listening to the Radio - via poopy Flash - catching up on emails, browsing, Skyping, a grand well spent. Great marketing Apple.

It comes pre installed with OSX, does it not? The question was why you need to spend £45 on another program? What functions from Aperture do you need that Bluemarine doesn't offer?

You moan at offers saying this is a discussion forum, then have a bitch fit when we are having actually that.

What comes pre installed? Not Aperture, I just bought it.

To answer your question, support from Apple. There are many other reasons I'm sure, but that's my first one. Also I just looked and Bluemarine is not in the app store, not a chance I'm buying/downloading software from anywhere else, why should I.

Carry on having a discussion, the only time I might get tetchy is when the majority of a post is about me rather than the subject matter, and rightfully so.

I don't get this. So what? I have a PC here bought new in 2003 for around £600. It is currently running perfectly and doing everything I ask of it including Skype, VLC Player, PHP, Apache, MySQL, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Why shouldn't it? I would be hacked off if it wasn't working perfectly rather than surprised that it is
