Engine help...
Rear thrust single breather crankcases started life in MY'99(WRX +STi) and the twin breather SCDB for the STi in MY'01 ,so dont really matter which exact crankcases you have as all you need is a rear thrust crank and a set of rear thrust mains.
The standard rods are the same length as is the deck height of the crankcases so you can build your earlier pistons into it,along with your heads and standard thickness head gaskets(depending on your piston compression height and bowl volume) to retain the correct static CR.

so there are definately no earlier than MY'99 rear thrust crankcases manufactured.
so from what you say i dont have an EJ20K block....?
i know this may sound a silly ? but how can you tell the deifference between a centre thrust and rear thrust crankshaft?
so there is definately no problem using the MY92-98 Wossner pistons in a M99 crankcase?
cheers merlin for input

No unless they have been modified after they left the factory.
No not a EJ20K block
picture below is a modified closed deck stroker machined to take a rear thrust.
Green arrow is the original center thrust (#3) red arrow is the modified housing to take a rear thrust (#5) EJ257 crank.

No problem at all using MY92-98 Wossner pistons in the later crankcases provided you are using standard length rods (130.50mm).
Merry Christmas
